90 000 miles service. Please help.
Hello all,
I have 92K miles on my 06 LS and went to local "Lexus" dealership asking for service and found out that it will cost me $1400 to replace a timing belt + water pump (?!?).
Guys, does it sound correct or they ripping me of?
Also, does anyone know reliable mechanic (or shop) in Nothern Virginia area, Alexandria - Arlington to do 90K service for lower price?
Thank you for your help.
Yours,
IL

I got the ebay water pump/timing belt kit, and I'm having my indie mechanic do it monday, including the camshaft seals, tensioner, and pulleys. He's also doing the spark plugs and valve cover gaskets. I am supplying all the parts. He quoted me a ballpark estimate of around $1000 labor. Is this way too high?

I think that's pretty high for labor only.
If he can do it in a day, that's $1000.

Had it installed today along with an oil change. I supplied the mobil one and filter and the total labor was $225.00. So timing belt, waterpump and all components parts/labor=$455.00. I also noticed that the lexus water pump and the aisin one from the kit looked identical down to the material used on the impeller.
