Default GS owner needs some advice from LS430 owners

There is a 2006 LS430 for sale and the guy is asking for $25000. The LS is the premium package and has 54,xxx miles on it. Its Black Onyx with black interior. I just want to get your guys opinion on the car itself. Do you think this is a good deal? Its been around for awhile and the owner also recently dropped his price by a few grand. Also are there any major known problems with the LS?

I plan to sell my 2006 GS300 in order to get this LS430 if everything is good. I have not check the carfax yet.

2006 LS premium with 54k for $25k - sounds about right if it is in great shape with a good well documented service record. I assume its non CPO.

I think the price sounds a bit steep for a private party premium LS. However, if I run a KBB for zip 92262, KBB lists private party prices ranging from $23.9K for fair condition to $27.7K for excellent condition. Some folks, like our buddy Jabberwock really like Premium trim level cars as there is less to break and they can use their own modern nav units. However, non-nav cars tend not to sell as fast because most buyers want at least the modern luxury trim.

Be sure to check the service history on lexus.com by entering the VIN as if it was your car (and then delete it).

Good luck in your search.

Agree with caddyowner. To clarify - for $25 K it should be in absolutely pristine shape - there is a big range of potential condition variables on used cars.

that is what sold me on my 05' LS premium Pkg 6 months ago is the great service records and its pristine condition. - Im betting he will go down another $1k or $2k on the price - still if it is in great shape I think it's worth it.

I just bought 06 Modern Luxury with half the miles (27K) for $28K. Might have paid a little more than I should but it's absolutely as new and has complete Lexus dealer service history and clean, one owner car fax. Your price sounds in the ball park.

The car is in great condition. I checked the service history and it has not been serviced since 2009. From what it looks like, it has not been serviced since the current owner purchased the car. Ill check out the carfax and I think that will make my decision. Thanks for everyones help.

I would definitely have the car inspected by Lexus dealer service or an independent Lexus mechanic.

Carfax is pretty close to useless for reporting accident damage unless the damage was very severe. Have the car inspected by Lexus before you buy it.

I would be uncomfortable if there was no recent service records. Ask the owner if he/she serviced the car and where (also ask to see reciepts). As a reference point, I got an 04 modern lux with 25k mi and CPO warranty for $25k last summer. While an 06 would be newer, there was no changed b/t MY 2004-2006. Have you seen the car in person yet, or driven it? If so, what were your impressions?

If it's in perfect condition with no accidents and good records, I would hold off until he goes a little bit lower. If he drops the price a little more, I would go for it.

CarGuy89 brought up a good point. I thought there weren't any noticeable changes between 04-06? Couldn't you buy a clean 04 in great condition and save a bunch of money?
