painting grill on UL
lets just say one wanted to take off their little square plexi window (PCS) on their LS430 to paint their grill. Would one be easily able to remove this square plastic piece so they can paint their grill?

Lexus Champion
Not familar with the PCS being attached to the back of the grill. I have a UL and I was able to take the grill assembly out with no issues. Just 6 (10 mm bolts) and then 8 philips screws holding the grill to the chrome frame.
Hope that helps.

For some reason, I just dont like the Lexus grill's painted with the L in the middle (IMO). Love the car tho
Go embless (if possible with pcs) The only place I can find a decent looking embless grill is on L-tunedparts.com. Expensive, but worth the $
When did they change the location of the radar? I see some like yours and some in the bumper like my 01

I will check it out again to make sure this afternoon or whenever it stops raining, but last time i checked it was sort of just molded in place. the radar is fixed/mounted to the frame of the car and lines up perfect behind the plexi window when the hood is closed.
on 05 (started late year cuz i've seen a few 05UL's with the old school one in the lower bumper) & 06 they put the radar and pcs like this.
the only reason i am not in a hurry to change out my grill is cuz this grill is like $1400 from lex, so replacing it with an aftermarket one that is like $700 seems just wrong in many ways. i'm obviously not against modding at all and have had past lex's with different grills but i'm having a hard time pulling the trigger on this one, so i thought just painting this one like the pic above may be a good starting point.

Its not painted but it is dark and has no emblem - Black chrome grill with no emblem avail on ebay. Ordered and put it in couple of weeks ago. Low cost but excellent quality piece and looks good on my car to my eyes. Installs in 15 minutes.

btw - shameless plug - I am selling my chrome version of this grill in the B&S section.

NOTE: The LS430 with PCS became available on the 2004-2006 LS430 CL and UL models only. With this system, you must use a grill-mounted Radar Cruise Control instead of Laser CC. Laser CC is found in the bumper on non-PCS models.
And, sorry, i have not tried to jack my the stock grill, so I cannot help there

Wow - great looking LS. Black chrome looks great on white.
I assume the radar cruise control on the UL has no problem seeing through the custom no emblem grill?

yeah waijai your grills looks really nice and i think the black chrome looks good on white/black and maybe even silver but i'm not sure about other colors such as mines.
thanks for the info DDlexus, this is sort of why i am leaning more towards just painting my current grill so i don't get any error codes.

Sojah - I might want to consider getting a relatively inexpensive replacement grill and painting the replacement. That way you preserve your OEM grill in case you ever want to go back to stock look.
