been using either Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Platinum depending what was on sale. Costco has a coupon this month for $9 off 6 quarts of Mobil 1 5W30. I will bring one M1 quart in with a 5 quart jug into my dealer for oil changes. Dealer oil change much less expensive when I bring in my own oil - dealer charges $7/quart for their M1. Its under CPO car warranty so I do oil changes and some other services at dealer for now.

Warm - agree that's what I was always been told also...to stick with same brand and type.

Maybe I'm just getting cheap in my old age but I now go with whatever major brand of full synthetic is on sale. My rational for occasionally using different oil is based on current reading most major brands seem to have very good quality synthetic oil. Each oil brand may have slightly different enhancement/detergent package and that maybe changing it up once in a while may help the engine reduce wear and varnishing over time - but who knows maybe changing brand may actually inhibit detergent/enhancement package with conflicting chemicals/additives.

Just want to point out, that you can still DIY or take your oil changes to another shop, and keep your warranty, You just need to keep records

Yup Yup, the best way to do that is keep a folder with all the receipts and log the dates of the oil changes that you do.

I use Mobil 1 in all my cars. Used it my previous Acura TL and I will be using it in my LS430. I haven't gotten to the indicated date yet.

Mobil 1 - I buy it on sale and bring it into Lexus dealer who changes my oil every 5K.

I just started G-Oil Full Synthetic 5W-30 in my 2005 SC430. I've always used full synthetic in my engine and when I switched to this brand, it was noticeably smoother. I would give it a try, just my two cents. But honestly, I usually just get whatever full synthetic oil is on sale. My SC only has 58K miles on it but I can say that it has run flawlessly thus far with changing intervals between every 5000-7500 miles. Hope this helps!

That's factual data you can take to the bank.

I used to change the oil in my SC400 at 3750 miles (I grew up on a farm where we changed the oil in cars and trucks at 2000 miles) and other engineers would ask if I would give them the oil I drained out!

Not trying to find fault in your changing at 2500 miles, it just shows how dedicated and caring you are with your car.
i love my car, it better last forever.

heh better watch out, if they are thermal paper receipts they will fade and disappear in about 2 years.

I personally Scan in receipts and have a word document, anything I do to the car I type it in the the date and mileage.

In the LS we use Syntec 5W-30, same that I use in the G. UOA came back great for 5k mile OCI in the LS, (LINK). It also runs very well in the VQ the G has.
