Default New Speakers?

My tweeters are shot in my 02 LS with M/L. Just wondering which ones are good out there to replace ours, personal experiances with the sound quality would be great. Thanks

I have the ML sound system and have a tweeter blown. I talked to a guy at a good stereo install shop and he made it sound like you need a 5 or 6 channel amp and replace all the speakers because of how the ML system works. He said the ohm rating on the speakers is complicated because of the way Lexus sets it up and is hard to replace.

Stereo shops sell and install stereo equipment. Enough said.

Well, i have one chirping slightly too. And let me tell you - getting one is least of the worries... To replace tweeter/s you will need to take off WHOLE dashboard....

For Lexus warranties, the Lexus dealer has to provide a failed unit before they will be reimbursed. So they are pretty careful to make sure that the unit has "failed" before they offer a replacement.

ok so there goes that idea. i cant see how lexus would make dealerships send back every bad part to them. must cost a fortune to do that.

socal3, did you have the CPO program on your car or do you fall into the warranty mileage region?

Thanks in advance... My dashboard was removed (he tryed intalling some alarm system or whatever - the poor 'tard) by previous owner, and he's failed to put it back on 100% right... he managed 99.5%, but that .5 causes some unwanted creaks already.
And that is before me going to try to remove it again to replace tweeters...
any tips will be appreciated

We've recently tested the ohm ratings on all the door speakers in a 2004 LS43 (except the dash tweeters for obvious reasons) and they're all 8ohm, the 8" sub is a 12ohm... from what I gather I would assume you can replace the tweeter with a similar sized and ohm rated tweeter but you do in fact have to remove the entire dash to get to those tweeters. The door tweeters are all 1" tweeters too. They are way in there with tube firing the sound up through a screened and filtered dash cover. Good luck with replacing it, post up pictures if you tackle this task!
