The Lexus LS430 is one of the best cars ever built, but, I can tell you still have a strong emotional attachment to the Jaguar. If you really want it that bad, and you have the financial means to do so, then do it. Life's too short to drive a car that you don't like.

Thanks guys for all your help.
The car the lady was driving was a 2000 Buick La Sabre.
by the way, the guy from NJ, The XJ is not a Mercury in any shape or form.
Unlike the others the XJ does not and has never shared its platform with any other make or model. Do your research before you comment.
Lets face it guys the Lexus is sold as a Toyota all over the world other than North America. Many are built in Toyota plants.
Im not saying they are not great cars. I currently have three. But they were built originally as Toyota's high end cars with L's put on them. They were build to be sold here in the USA. The name "Lexus" is derived from Toyota's LE(luxury edition cars), US(United States), and X which is taken from the word luxury, with the overall meaning to say "Luxury Edition for the United States. Put the acronyms together and you get "Lexus." My 1990 Lexus LS400 windows are all stamped Toyota. Now I heard that after 2006, all Lexus models are not sold as Toyotas but, that is something a Toyota rep told. me. My 2004 GX470 is basicly a 4 runner with lots of options on steroids with an L on the hood, lift gate and steering wheel.
Funny I brought my Lexus to the Lexus Dealer this morning and they wanted to charge me $169.00 to change my oil and rotate my tires, and perform a safety check. Plus, they wanted me to wait for it for 2 hours.
I bought a filter and brought it to the Toyota dealer next door Oil Change was $29.99. The Service advisor told me to bring it to them for any maintenance issue and they will be 1/4 the price. He said they just charge so much because there is a "L" on you car. Total with filter was under $50.00 and guess what, they did an inspection too. Was out of thier in 35 minutes.
Thanks again guys for your comments.

^^LOL what is happening to this thread??? ![Confused](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
In an effort to bring this thread back on topic (since OP brought up the whole Lexus/Toyota thing), is the LS a bespoke platform or does it share it with the GS/IS? I drove the GS and it wasn't anywhere as solid/tank-like as the LS which is why I'm asking. Also, does the XJ have the same feeling of solidity (I'm asking b/c I haven't the pleasure of driving one yet)?

LS is a one of a kind platform unlike the the ES350 which ain't nothin but a tarted up fat Camry...sneer, effete grimace.
I don't understand the contention here - the consensus of the opinion posts is that Jags are beautiful cars except for a few ford based nasties that have pretty much come and gone...so get one but just don't expect the Jag on average to be as reliable as an LS on average. JMHO, YMMV, etc, etc

Hey, you're a Jag guy. Nothing wrong with that. Go with your heart. We're talking about cars after all, not heart surgery. I personally have always thought that Jags were sensual and cool but their reliability reputation scared me. I chose an LS430 not because I thought that it was the prettiest or best in every category, but because it gave me the best combination of luxury, comfort, and performance with the best record for reliability. I love lots of things about the big Mercs, Bimmers, and Jags, but I always opt for low maintenance and cost of ownership over as the deal maker. Get your Jag my friend, you know it's what you want.
