New Exhaust
#18
I had a shop cut the rear mufflers off and weld on a flange that would allow me to take the mufflers off and on at my convenience. Once off the sound escapes about where the rear axle is.
The good:
Car sounds great at start up
Car sounds aggressive at full throttle acceleration
Sound can't be heard while cruising with radio at moderate volume
The bad:
Car drones horribly at very light throttle application
Car drones while coming to a slow stop
Car is not loud enough to justify the extra droning
Exhaust is audible while cruising and conversing with passenger (no radio)
Needless to say, I put the stock mufflers back on today and will not be taking them off anytime soon. My only option would be to fabricate a rear section with aftermarket mufflers. Perhaps these symptoms aren't as bad with the tailpipe exiting out of the rear rather then in the middle of the car. The OP can clear that up.

Thanks
I actually don't have mufflers on at the moment. I had them removed and replaced with a welded pipe and these tips. It's still quite in the cabin, you just hear a mild exhaust note. When I have the air on full blast and/or the radio on at a low volume setting, I can't hear it.
There is actually no drone at all, which I was surprised. Just a crip, clean V8 sound. I will try to post up a couple of different videos here soon so you guys can get an idea on the sound.
The car will actually be garaged soon, so it won't be my DD for long.

I think what you are trying to get is the availability of a throaty exhaust sound but also retaining the function of the quiet tock mufflers. I think the easiest way is to kill two bird with one stone, why not fab up a Universal Electronic Cutout just before the Mufflers with some test pipes that extend to the rear of the back tires, (Almost a side exit but not visible from the outside)? They are available from ebay and I think would do the trick...
Matter of fact I am thinking of doing this mysel, retain factory look but have the ability to get a Nice Rumble/WOT sound without leaving the driver's seat.
