It is good to be humble and to extirpate one's ego...

I called these guys about the mods they are showing in this vid. This whole set up was $12,000. They will do just a refiguring of the internal computer and a chip for $2000. They are in Houston, TX.
If I save enough for my kids college then I will think about a $12,000 modification for my LS.
Just like Sojah said then I would be in the shop getting it tuned all the time.
cheers,
Ian

This mod would be an improvement in performance, but I don't even think it would enough to beat a "standard" Mercedes S550 or most of the luxury cars now with near 400hp

I love Mercs, but this quote hits home.

My old dept manager bought a brand new S65 AMG and a week later he called and said he won't be able to come in to work. Turns out the ECU fried and everything shut down, stranding him on the side of the freeway. Dealership replaced it all for free, as expected, but pretty sad knowing how much he paid for the car and how new it was.

Luxury = first and foremost actually being able to use your car when you want or need.

Its hit and miss with all luxury cars, yes the ls430 is more reliable than others but my father in law has a s65 and has never had any issue. They keep packing all these technology in cars these days that most of the issue are usually related to the electronics.

In my eyes, our LS430 never gets humbled, even when my dad insists on trundling along at 55 and everybody's passing him.

Nice to have all that power under the hood on tap, just to have it. My next move is an 2007-2008 Jeep SRT8 next year. I need an "SUV" to haul a few things
ha ha. I was humble a few weeks back by a CL600. The guy actually rolls down the window and shook his head and said something references to me stepping my game. All I could do is look down and tell myself I should have got the V12. The funny thing is I could have gotten a CL600 for what I paid for my CL550 but I hate that the CL600 doesn't come with the AMG package. I know a lot you keep posts something about MB reliability and I agree my 02 CL500 was terrible but my last 2 Mercedes have been very reliable.

yeah it never fails that no matter what car your in, someone will always pull up in a bigger badder one and if they are a jerk they will try and make you feel inferior. that's why for my next car i purpose the s65 07+ that way there are not many cars in existence that can try and make me feel this way. or maybe i just have a small ***** issue, who knows¿¿¿

I am not so sure the Merc is that much faster in the end.
He has to stop at every available chiropractor to get some relieve from his back pain in those (for me anyway) uncomfortable seats, while you can just keep on crawling further (at only 250 km/hr)

the merc in this case the s65 is so much faster than the ls430 its not even a close to fair comparison... one can also be driven on a track and the other, well it shouldn't be driven on a track

HAHA so true, but it would be fun to see how the big land yacht would handle on a test track. something for TopGear to poke fun at I'm sure.
