Navigation system was lost
The navigation system in my 2006 LS430 sometimes gets lost, showing me careening off-road and through lakes miles away from my current location. This usually happens when my phone also has a hard time finding a good GPS signal. The error usually corrects itself fairly quickly.
However, just last week when leaving a parking garage, the nav showed a small error that grew into over a 300 mile error over the next hour of driving.
I was worried my GPS antenna, or something else, had gone haywire. The next morning it still showed me in another state as I backed out of my garage.
In an attempt to correct it, I hit the options button and went into the information screen (the same area where you dial the phone). I found the calibration option for the navigation and reset my current location and heading, starting by zooming in on my state and finishing by selecting my current location with the closest zoom on my house.
With the location reset, everything has operated normally for the last few days...I suspect a sofware glitch that allows the location error, than further software issues that won't don't result in a recovery. I'm guessing the parking garage had something to do with initiating the error as I drove down 4 levels with no GPS signal.
