LS430 mirror
I have a 2004 ls430, purchased used. It is eqipped with power mirror as well as power folding mirror. The passenger side mirror works properly in extension and folding, as well as mirror glass articulation. It moves from the folded position to perpedincular to the car.
The driver mirror however on startup becomes hyperextended, angling the mirror housing and glass away from the car, and must be manually folded part way to make perpendicular and be able to see behing the car. Glass articulation within the mirror seems to be working properly. Initially I felt maybe an impact had permanently offset the extension of the mirror housing...
I purchased another mirror (complete housing motor and glass) from a salvage yard, had it installed on the driver side, and on startup the new mirror became hyperextended.
It appears that the self parking motor/folding motor/or some sensor for the driver mirror is not calibrated properly, but somehow replacing the mirror didn't fix the problem. As far as I understand the mirror position sensor and folding motor and glass articulation motor is whitin the mirror itself so I don't understand why this would be even after replacement.
Any ideas? Anyone else have this problem?
Is there another mirror position sensor or motor or relay proximal to the mirror housing itself that may be damaged?
Thanks in advance for all your help

Have you tried to clean the switch? If not, do a search on this site and give it a try. Pretty easy to do and it's a common problem with the LS430. Might not solve the problem but its worth the try.
