Default Question on replace bulb on brakelight located on rear trunk lid

I am trying to replace the high tail light bulb on the rear trunk lid.
I was able to get into the compartment where the brake light assembly is.
But now I now unsure what to do next.
I can see the light bulb connection in question (see picture - it is the plug with wires coming out of it - in the bottom left - that is in focus).
But now that I am there - I am unsure what I need to do next.
Do twist out the bulb connection (with plyers) anti-clockwise?
Or do I need to pull out the whole light assembly - to get at the bulb?

thanks

Use your hand to twist the bulb assembly counter clockwise. You will feel when it's loose then take it right out. Do not use excessive force or you will snap something - it's all plastic. You might need to use a little more strength to take out the bulb itself - use rocking side to side motion if it's really stuck. Plug in a new bulb when you take out the old one. Make sure that it's in all the way, you're going to feel it slip into place. If you're not sure the bulb is in place, take a picture of an old bulb still in the socket (with your phone etc.) and then comare it to a new bulb installation. You can see that there is three pins in the socket assembly, align them with three holes in the taillight assembly, push in and twist to secure the socket. That's it, you're done.

I recently had to replace my 3rd brake light and did with a LED light. I am still getting the "TAILLAMP FAILURE" warning even though the light is working. Is that normal with the LED lights?

I'm not sure on led bulbs as I have stock taillights and bulbs. I think it needs a resistor in order to work properly and not displaying "taillamp failure".
