Lexus tech gives the 430 a big thumbs-up

This is weird to see this thread as my wife came back from the dealer after having them correct a mirror problem on the '03 we just purchased. The service writers fawned over the LS430 as well. Its a great car. Have you guys/girls been driven while in the back seat?? I had two close friends gush over how nice it was back there. Then, I saw for myself.

The only comment I've ever gotten for my LS430 is "what's a Celsior?" I rebadged the LS430 with a Celsior badge and get that question quite a lot. Some think it's either a new Lexus, or those that know think I imported it from Japan.
The LS460 is tech filled, but for the over package I feel the 430 is better was well. I know I'll be totally bypassing the LS460 and looking to the 5th gen. LS in about 10 years as a possible replacement, depending on how that goes.

I agree! It's really hard to find an LS430 that doesn't reflect having lived a hard life. I think the LS430 did for Lexus what the 123 body did for Mercedes. As mentioned in a past thread, I find it odd that I do not see that many on the road.

I see these things everywhere. Not as bad as the Escalade we got rid of, but 2 or 3 LS430s per day is not unheard of. And because there's almost not a damn bit of difference between a UL and a Base model, I find the exterior colors are where you can most set yourself apart from everyone else. This is why I love Cypress Pearl and Briarwood Pearl. Pristine LS400s, which I still hold in higher esteem, are getting rare.

I drove my adult son and my late wife's caregivers on a 300 mile round trip yesterday for Connie's burial. (nice, but cold and windy, service followed by a luncheon with about 70 of her Ohio friends and family members) One of the caregivers can't ride in back seats due to motion sickness, so the other caregiver and my son rode in back and were very comfy.

I got a 2003.
I went to drop the kids off at nana and papas house , and they saw the car and asked " when did you guys buy a new car". I played it for a while until they asked for a ride. Once they got in the car, they saw a small chip on the windsheild, which was filled/repaired and made the comment that it should not have it for a new car. I had them look at the odometer, 101,000 miles.
Its that clean

In talking to the Manager of the Maintenance Department at one Lexus dealership, he indicated that this car will last, easily, 300,000 to 400,000 miles. Like others here, my car is constantly being mistaken for new, even though it's an '02. Particularly when people are sitting inside.

As of today, LS430 is the best model Lexus ever made in the history of Lexus, period. 98'-00' LS400 followed in a close 2nd.
Quality of 4th gen LS460/600 went down along with the built quality of the entire Toyota/Lexus line of cars.
Let's see if the 5th gen LS can beat the LS430.

The LS430 is an amazing car. We just upgraded to one (owned a '95 LS400 before).
The LS430 prices have dropped dramatically here this year (Ontario, Canada). I think about half of what they were going for a year ago? That makes the deal extra sweet.
But I do prefer the '98-'00 LS400 for the looks over the LS430.
