does anyone else notice enthusiast means something different for lexus?

Very nicely expressed, Dutchie. That type of car culture is quite foreign (pun intended) to us midwesterners. We generally see:
- Stock
- Beaters
- Redneck performance
- Highbrow performance
- Low riders (often Hispanic drivers)
- Donk, carriage roof, and other urban styles.
We I see a lowered car, my opinion tends toward low riders rather than a different type of highbrow performance.

If anything, the opposite is true - 430s are owned by the older crowd. Heck, I'm 28 and my dad makes fun of me for driving "an old man's car". Not many young people can afford the (former) Lexus flagship model, nor would many want to - I doubt it offers an exciting enough ride for them. I would argue that the sportiness factor is the reason why you see so many third party outfits with the German models.
It's a problem because of a gross lack of sportiness that Toyota/Lexus has become known for.

The vast majority of United States LS430 owners are not sitting on an online message forum looking for (or expecting) modifications. Every other LS430 owner on the road I drive by is owned by someone older than me with a full head of gray hair, and I'm 34 right now. The US market isn't looking for a canyon carver or drag racer.
I think the OP's expectations are off base. Just because other car manufacturers have a performance lineup, doesn't mean that Lexus is lacking or behind the times because they aren't following suit. It's just not in their business model.

In Japan the Celsior was seen as Toyota's GOD mobile, you probably can hardly find one stock over there. Not many Americans know the "history" of most Japanese cars because a lot of times what we get here in U.S. are detuned, or totally redesigned and different mechanical vehicles.
To most Americans, they probably think the Nissan GTR is a new vehicle and only one/two generations old. The GTR is actually based on the Skyline GTR domestic in Japan, which is I believe on it's 10th or 11th generations already, dating back to 1950's.
Globally, these vehicles have big followings and MOD markets... it's just that here in U.S. the LS is seen as an "old man's" car, and much of it to Lexus' own marketing in the beginning.

I bought my 430 specifically because I wanted to build a vip car and was inspired by the builds in Japan.
Heck, i'm 20 years old and get the craziest looks from people, especially the older 430 owners.
That being said, I think most 430 buyers in the states buy the car solely cause it is luxury, not because of any performance potential it has.

Hi, yea I am a midwestern guy and I assume all cars lowered to and cambered to the point of ill handling are a hispanic thing. I thought they were the ones that started that.
Please tell me, I am very interested in the history of the LS that most of us americans don't understand.
Please enlighten me, and maybe I will learn.

The same reason you dont know is your lack of willingness to search for the answers to your own questions. Plenty of info is out there, search the internet, VIP forums, google. You will be surprised at the enlightenment you may find. The world is a wonderful place.
