Default headlight or ballast

last night, my wife's l/f headlight went out. the bulb actually flickered a little it she tried to flip the headlight switch, but then eventually didnt flicker at all. i bought a new bulb from the NAPA auto parts that my shop deals with. got home tonight & plugged it in hoping that it was going to work. but alas, it didn't can anyone else point me into another direction on what i can check? i checked the fuse box under the hood. i used my power probe to check the fuses & i am getting a current through the fuse for the l/f headlight.

im just kinda of stuck from this point. don't know what to check next. we don't really see or deal with HID lights at my shop, so my techs don't really mess with it.

anyone have any pointers on what i can do next?

have you checked to see if your ballast failed? im mean the simplest way to check is plug in the new bulb into the known working bulbs ballast. if it lights up then its your ballast. well that would be my guess. there might be a chance somehow your ignitor got messed up too.

the balast is separate from the ignitor? i dont really know HID systems too well (sorry for the ignorance).

i purchased a new bulb & installed it & it's still not working.

well, i ended up getting a whole light assembly on ebay. i figured since there was some condensation in the headlight anyway, eventually i was going to want/have to replace it. the seller included the bulb & balast, so hopefully once it is installed, everything will work correctly.

Hey ebxgsxr, (I assume you ride a Gixxer, 600, 750, 1000?) can you tell me where the ballast is and if it is hard to replace? And what did you pay for the "whole assembly". Did it included the exterior lens? My drivers side is pretty yellow.
