I recently picked up an 01 LX. While it's a very capable winter and off-road vehicle, it isn't nearly as luxurious as my LS. It also gets 10+ MPG less than the LS. (14 v. 24.5) The folks over in the LX forum are also helpful, but there are fewer of us.

Remember Denny Green's tyrant after the Vikings lost to whoever..."They where you we thought they where and we let em off the hook"

We have our LS's and sure a German car has more pizzaz, SUV's sit up higher, and we think we may be getting tired of the ol LS but we know we have a fine auto and I myself wonder will the cost of ownership/trade for a comparable luxury car sour the experience over time . The LS is so well written about, relatively good on fuel, and so reliable and safe and after all they are just depreciating steel but we in the US love our cars. I just clicked 154k on my 04 I would love an 08 A8 for about 32 g's but I could sure use the 400 a month for something else. My car has been flawless up till now Knock Knock.

Or Spock on Star Treck comment " having is not always the same as wanting" and I hope Cad yur back is feeling better. There was a 2003 Land cruiser for sale with like 89k on it for 18 g's which i thought was fair but didn't even go look at it to temp me. i thought they got 18 or so MPG though..

10+ miles per gallon
Reason why we decided to look for LX470 is because we found out my wife is pregnant with 3rd child. I'm thinking LS430 is a little small, but I thought lx would get at least 15mpg...
hmmm.... something to think about.

If you have a 3rd child on the way (BTW, congrats from this 13+x grandpa who raised 6 kids), you need a good 3-row vehicle. Frankly, the LX 3rd row stinks. Sienna and Odyssey are probably the best options. If you're allergic to minivans, get over it or consider something like a Mazda5, Ford Flex, used Ford Taurus X, or Mazda CX9.

He was saying 10+ mpg less than the LS430. He said it gets around 14mpg.
