So apparently there are 'privacy protection policies' that will not allow service info. to be shared unless you take ownership of a vehicle. Not sure if this is a Canadiana thing.

IF there is someone at the dealership that can access the information, I do not know myself. I don't even know where that type of info is even stored. I thought maybe there was a Lexus dealer database network that would house service data for all Lexus dealerships to access should a lease return / buy in arrive on their lots.

Oh well

Couple of general questions re: LS430

Is an air filter really that labour intensive?? Or am I just really new to Lexus labour charges?

Can a Toyota dealership do non specialized maintenance on an LS? Such as fluid changes, brake changes etc.

I come from a Lincoln Continental background so I'm all aware of the maintenance costs of operating a flagship ($11k in repairs to date). Would the LS have higher costs? Or would that depend on where I took it?

Sorry for the sudden bombardment of questions.

Cabin and engine air filters are simple diy 5 minute jobs. Engine oil and filter is very easy also. Some Toyota places will work on a Lexus, some will not.

I don't see any reference to service history on the lexus.ca website. The do have an interesting link to this other Club Lexus, though:

I take my Camry and LS to a Yota dealer and they have 2 Lexus trained master techs. They changed one of those filters last oil change charged my 7 bucks labor. Some dealers will give you the service history rundown with a VIN some won't I found usually they do none will give the name of the owner/owners. Most everyone charges 75 -90 an hour or more.

Thank you guys for the replies. More to massage through my numb skull.

There are some Toyota dealerships around my parts. Interestingly enough, there is one right beside the Lexus dealership (same ownership). Makes me think that if I took the Lex to the Toyota service dept., they'd be all like 'lolno, you go next door for that'.

Hope you get into the lexus group and the LS430 is a great buy as long as you are getting a good price on one.
