Default Least expensive way to get a new master smart key, including cutting and transponder

It seems with our CL membership, Sewell will do one for us for $132.81 shipped to my door, programmed and cut with my VIN. On Ebay, I can buy one uncut and unprogrammed for about $50, but its reconditioned. Id then have to call an auto locksmith to find out what hed charge to cut it and program it. Any other options? I only have one key for my LS, and luckily its a master smart key. But if I lose it, Im SOL. And it also is beat to hell. So I think I need to have a new one made and keep this one as a spare, but I want to spend as little as possible. I do want a genuine one though, not a plane Jane black one without the Lexus badge.

So fellas, what say you? Whats the smartest, most efficient way to go?

BTW, added a GX470 to the stable a couple weeks back as well, love it. Heres a pic of the stable as it looks now.

I bought one off of ebay and it cost more that what you are getting quoted. By the time i was done i paid 65 dollars for the blank key (i had to wait 7 days for the key to get to me) then i had to pay 75 for the dealer to cut the key and i had to wait a week for them to get it done. Dont get me wrong it works but if i knew about this site at the time i would of went with the vendor. Hope this helps

Default new smart key

I also bought one off ebay, about $65. Cost me $40 to get it cut at a locksmith (the laser cuters are expensive). Then it cost me $50 to have a dealer program it. I actuall took it to a toyota dealer that was closer to me. The keys are simular to some toyota smart keys. They actually 'reprogram' both keys to a new code when they do this. So if you have 2 'master' keys and a new key, you have to take in all three keys. Don't lose your master key if you have only one, if you do they have to replace the ECM in the car.

Just had this done. No master key so they had to make one 90 bucks. 148 for the key cut at Toyota. They said nothing about a whole new program. I will check in the am as I still hope to find my other 2 keys.

Yeah, I talked to my local Toyo dealer and they cant even cut the keys, they send them out to get cut. So Id have to go to my parts guy at the local Lexus dealer and see what hed charge. I know them pretty well there, will be interesting to see what they quote me.
