Uh Oh, Car Bug Biting Me
I've been spending way too much time in the 4G GS forum and have a test drive scheduled for this afternoon in a 2013 GS350 AWD w/ luxury package.

I know how you feel Caddy, I realized I will be moving around a lot for clerkships my last 2 yrs of med school. My TV alone won't fit in my 430 let alone all my other crap. Been thinking about an SUV.....something like an X5 4.8i or an LX470.....

I just satified my car itch with a 99 GS400. Been wanting one for about 10 years. It is a beast !
Of course it a downgrade in luxury from my 2001 LS430, but it is an upgrade in fun!! They stil look very cool to me especially in black . Aged very well IMO. Looking into the Borla exhaust as my first mod.

Every time I see a nice car I get the itch. Was driving from orlando to tampa today and followed a nice massarati quatraporte for a min, what a beautiful car. I sure hope the next LS comes back with something more old school lexus and not new school lexus

Alas, it appears I will be soon departing the realm of LS ownership for a starfire pearl / flaxen AWD GS350 with the luxury package - assuming the dealer can work a trade with another dealership.
Impressions from test drive:
Exterior styling:
Like most every angle. Even the front end is growing on me. Silver looks good, but I think I prefer another color to gain added contrast with the chrome trim and silver wheels. Starfire is the likely winner here as I don't want a dark daily driver.
Interior:
Great seat comfort and the seat coolers actually work when compared to my old LS. Great looking dash and nav system. Liked the input joystick since it came out on the HS & RX as I don't care for touch screens in a car. Driving position and space is sufficient, but I kinda miss the openness of the LS430. Back seat and trunk space is sufficient for my current needs. Prefer the flaxen, but the gray would be OK.
Driving experience:
Here's where the car really shines. The ride is taut without being harsh. The exhaust note is musical when you bury your foot. Handling inspires confidence. Do I need all that? Heck no, but I want it.
Overall impression:
A very well executed sport sedan with Lexus refinement and expected reliability.
They offered an expected trade value on my LS ($18.5K) and took $1700 off the MSRP of the GS. I asked for an additional $2K off in the deal which they agreed to. I know I'm paying a premium for jumping to the latest and greatest, but what the heck.

That sounds like a pretty good deal to me, now I would just need to get past that crazy looking spindle whatever grill. Lex finally seems like they have a proper 5 series in the gs now.

Think this might be it in Starfire w/ Saddle:

Have enjoyed your posts, Caddy. Hope you won't be a stranger in the LS430 forum if you make the switch

Thanks for the link. The color isn't as orange (ala LS430 Saddle) as in the first pics.
Oh, and I won't be a stranger. I'll still be moderating this sorry bunch.

Congrats on the new purchase! I am currently using the E60 5 series as my winter car (the LS is sleeping in the garage back home) and the non-touch screen is kinda growing on me... The interior of the new GS is one sweet deal. Enjoy!
