overheating issue
Having trouble with my daughter's car- She was driving on the parkway when the car stopped, luckily she was going fast enough to where she had enough speed to get to the shoulder - it ended up being the timing belt. Got that changed.
coincidently, on the WAY HOME from the mechanic, the car overheated.
the mechanic checked the water pump, that was fine. I turned on the heat full blast, it's ice cold. I took the thermostat out, put it in a pot of boiling hot water, it did not open. So I'm on my way out now to go change the thermostat..hopefully that's the issue. Any other suggestions?

The mechanic probably didn't bleed the system properly. There was an air pocket which likely caused the overheating. I've seen it on many cars where the coolant was drained for a repair of some sort. Some cars are difficult to bleed. Maybe the thermostat was a coincidence???

Friend of mine changed out the timing belt, he also said I I got very lucky, the engine did not seize.
I changed the thermostat got rid if the air pockets the car is fine.
But I do have a check engine light code P0135 02 sensor bank 1.
Also I got a tailamp failure changed the bulb checked every bulb the light will not go off.
I even tried removing it with my OB machine did not work.
Underneath that message I have a Range approximately message with miles counting down.
Any ideas on this problem???
Steve

Engine siezing: What year/model is your daughter's car?
The LS400 before 1995 had a non-interfering engine, which will not be destroyed by a broken timing belt.
Taillamp failure: I think there is a thread devoted to this topic. The common cause is a wiring fault where the harness enters the trunk at the hinge (may not apply to your year/model).

Thank You but believe it or not I didn't realize the license plate bulbs were out. I think this solved it unless the light comes back on.
But I do have that other warning light that reads "range approximately 216 miles" and counting down as I drive'
This message is below where the tailight lamp failure was.
Any ideas???
