Hey guys, ever since I bought my LS, I knew the rear sub was cracked, because it made that rattling noise. I was wondering since the rear sub is "broken", is it hindering the sub's performance, other than just creating a rattle as well? What I mean is, the bass in the car is very minimal, and I have to say i'm not so impressed with the system. Now i'm comparing this Levinson system to the one I had in my 01 Gs300, which was an outstanding system(with tons of bass). So my question is, once I get the sub replaced, will it produce more bass, or is this car in general just not have much bass to it?


Those of you wondering, the levinson on the 01 Gs300 was impossible to find, you had to order that way. To this day, I still think it's the best system i've ever had.

If yo change the stock sub to Kicker COMP8 sub it will produce much better bass. However if you want the whole system to be nice, tight and bass oriented you need dynamat.

My old nakamichi system in my 2GS seemed to be better at staging and it sounded great with tight bass, however the LS430 seems like it has a lot better imaging rather than staging, so I think u may want to look towards aftermarket sub and amp to get ur desired sound.

my 03 ls430 sun rattles crazy, how do I remove it or disconnect it?

My sub started to rattle. I knew that the foam must have cracked or separated somewhere but I just couldn't "see" it. Ultimately pulled edges inward to see that the foam had separated around all sides. Condition of the foam itself is not bad. No cracks, holes, or tears anywhere.

Researching this forum I saw solution to either glue the edges or replace the sub. I already have a nice spare 8" 8 ohm sub and I was planning to replace it but then I gave a try to glue the edges. I used Epoxy resin (the one that comes with two tubes attached and dispenses product like a syringe which you mix it and apply) and I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. No more rattle and I hear deep bass.

Try this method first before you replace the sub.

Just an update guys, The dealer is looking at the car next week. I was told the subwoofer can be replaced under warranty(he's 99% sure), so i'm going to go with that route. If they dont, then i'll do the repair myself.

My Lexus Platnium Warranty replaced my Sub without any issues. Hopefully, you'll be covered as well.
