I appreciate the positive comments on the buying advice but I have to clarify and say that this stratagy only works for cars that have a normal demand vs supply curve. Certain in great demand or super cream puff ultra low mile cars literally get snapped up in hours.
I have been looking for a mint condition 2006-2010 SC430 with less than 15k miles on it for about a year. Today we tried to go look at a mint white 2007 SC430 with 16k miles on it that unfortunately was sold by the time we got there at 1pm - less than 4 hours of being traded in. Of course the dealer had 3 other SC430s sitting on the lot with higher miles and usual slightly beat/dirty interiors, paint chips, repainted bumpers, etc. These are the cars they will gladly negotiate on but I'm hunting for something different for my SC as its gonna be a long term keeper - when it shows I'll end up paying very close to asking price if its semi-reasonable given current market pricing.

I haven't decided yet, kind of on the fence about it, I don't really need the LS, in fact I barely need a car at all since I work out of my house 99%, but I hate to sell the LS and then regret that its gone. The SC430 would basically be a weekend toy that will be my hobby car for the next 10-15 years.
We really don't need three cars depreciating in the garage when we drive less than 12k miles/year combined between my wife and I. And my son is about to turn 16 so we will get him a semi-old clunker to drive as his first car so that will make 4 cars parked at the house. Crazy really but we are worn out from driving him to school, school events, band, karate, boy scouts, etc - basically driving the kid to all his activities has been an almost full time gig for my wife.
