Melting trunk release button
So since my 2004 UL is new to me I've being going through the car and yesterday I went to open the trunk via the outside trunk release and I ended up with a finger full of melted rubber! The rear outside trunk release is melting, anyone else have had this problem? I ordered a new switch yesterday and it can't get here quick enough .

Yes. I have (had) the same problem. I'd guess almost every owner would have this issue by now. A couple years ago when I first read about this subject, I inspected my 2005's button and said to myself, "NOT ME!" Well, months later, "YES..#me too"
I just let it 'drip' and now there's a less thick rubber coating on the button. Also, I have to push up more firmly than before to open the trunk. I removed the dripped rubber from my bumper very carefully (in the fall when temperatures were cooler lol), and with some WD40. There are several threads on here documenting the phenomenon of the melting rubber. Perhaps you can post a DIY on your button replacement?

Then I read it was actually a more common problem.
