The button on the mirror is for automatic dimming from cars behind you at night.

As for blue, you will notice on the roads that most "High End" cars are either black or white, with some silver ones mixed in. I have a very good friend in the auto sales business and he says to never buy blue, that it will not bring as much money on re-sale and they are harder to sell than black or white. Just saying............

When I arrived I noticed the LS right away and it was indeed blue as hell :') I was VERY disappointed. I really want a white, gray/silver of black one. Normally I don't mind the color that much but since I want to "VIP" it, I don't know if it will look as good as the mentioned colors.

Also there are some minor marks in the back of the front seats, 2 dents in the rear bumper and some paint "chips" (is that how you call it?). And again, normally I am soooo easy and not an *ss about these little things. But hey, if I buy a LS I will "have to" keep it untill I can afford a LS460, LS600 or Crown Majesta.

Other than that, the car drives great. I got a kick at the 3000rpm mark which came as a suprise to me. I am used to 280hp (on a 1240kg car) so I didn't expect some beast under the hood, since the car weights 1800kg. But it was pretty quick and I was cruising 170km per hour when I wasn't paying attention to my speedo.

My daughter (she is 5) loves the massage in the rear seat. Car is pretty quiet, not as quiet as I thought it would be because it has double glass, but maybe the "noise" came from the sunroof. BTW, in the mirror there is a button with AUTO on it. What does it do? When I press it, the led next to it doesn't light up. The car has 2 heights but when I press "height" it doesn't really go up or something.

Although I am very positive about the quality, as I espected from Lexus, it's not love at first sight. Just because it's blue... So I am in a little dilemma right now. This is the only UL for sale in the whole country...

What do you guys think of blue?

ah shoot.... it's the ONLY LS UL for sale over here... I can't believe it. There are silver ones but not full options and the interior is black. The blue one has ivory interior which I like most.

It's this one I am talking about:

You can't tell it's blue, can you? Until you see this pic:

No I am wondering, IF I buy this one, should I repaint it...

I already thought so but I couldn't tell if it's active or not since the led next to it didn't light up.

That appears to be a very dark (and probably a pearlescent) blue, which is not so bad. I had a dark blue GS-430 and it was a pretty car, with tan leather. NEVER PAINT ON A CAR UNLESS IT IS NECESSARY ! In the U.S. anyway, ANY paint-work on a car de-values it. Looks like a nice car, again, if it has close to 100,000 miles on it, VERIFY that it has had a timing belt and water pump put on it. That is a fairly major expense every 100,000 miles or so. If it breaks, you trash the engine. The belt usually does not break due to wear, the water pump fails and the belt rides on the back of it and it causes the belt to break. It ruins the engine. Make sure that has been done, or be prepared for that expense. Otherwise, nice looking car. I sure would not be ashamed to be seen driving it. Good luck and keep us posted.

Haha thanks!

The car has 171,000 km on it (that's 106.000 miles). The timing belt is changed at 152.000km. Not sure about the water pump.

Even my wife says I should buy it. HOW ABOUT THAT?! That's new for me LOL. We never had a blue one before so... But IRL it's more blue than on the pics. I don't have any problem with very dark blue. The blue looks very good on the ivory leather though. I am afraid I will give in :P

Just do it, it seems like you like it. You'll get over the blue I'm sure and since everyone has black or white traditionally your blue will stick out a little more. Do it...

I agree, go for the blue - classy color. Anyway, in the evening it looks black.

Since the water pump has to be removed during the process of changing the timing belt, most people I know get a brand new water pump since there is no additional labor cost to replace it. It's already off anyway and it's the culprit that breaks timing belts. So, just pray, or ask the previous owner, if they paid for a new water pump. It behooves all Lexus owners to pay attention to any new sounds coming from under the hood, or any water dripping from where the water pump is. Sometimes water pumps will start to "Squeal" a bit before the sieze up and that's when you better have it at the shop PRONTO to get it changed out. It sure beat a $10,000 dollar engine.

I think you want that car, so if it's a reputable dealership, buy it and get yourself out of your misery. Bea them up a little on the price and see if that makes you feel better. I advise anyone buying a Lexus to NOT let them sell you an expensive "Extended Warranty", because they don't break. LOL

Go for it.

Well folks, my totally cream puff 2005 LS-430 I'm so proud of got beat to death with hail yesterday when I was in Dallas. It may reach a "Total Loss" due to the extreme damage. It even busted out my sunroof and the hail was larger than baseballs. So, don't get to attached to these "Things" as they can be taken away from you in a heart-beat. It will have to have fenders, hood, trunk, roof and the whole car painted. I may settle up with my Insurance company and just trade it for something if I can find something nearly as nice as this car was. Pearl White, gray leather, chrome wheels......was a beauty and a one-owner lady driven car with all service done by Lexus. What a shame.

Carnut - That is terrible news - very sorry to hear about the damage to your car. Hopefully you will find something even better to replace it.

Thanks for the condolences. There are some 2006 LS-430's around with half the miles mine has, but I hate to spend a ton of money to only upgrade one year. I'm not thrilled about going into a LS-460, but maybe after driving one for a day or so, I'll learn to like it. I understand its maintenance costs are much more the the LS-430. I'll live over it, one way or the other.

Thanks for the note.
