on my 01 ls430 UL with Mark Levinson the volume outpit is I would say 10-20% less on the drivers door speaker than the others. It is not too noticable but I thought I would ask if you have experienced this and/or is it normal?

I think the foam may be slightly deteriorated because if the base if high occasionally I can hear a slight distortion.

I can buy a NEW speaker on ebay for $136.$110 labor by a guy who knows what he id doing or I can have an upholstry shop who owes me a favor put it in for free (but he has no access to the service manual to see how to take the door panel off the right way but he claims to have the exparience to do it).

Does anyone know if it is easy for ME to take the door panel off? Do you have instructions? I have tools and am very handy.

Someone here did a great writeup - with pictures - on removing the front door trim, etc.
Search on "door lock" or Door actuator", etc.

 

make sure the balance/fader is even on the audio settings?
