Default Engine Oil Level

On my recently purchased 2002 LS430, the engine oil level when cold reads about 1/8" above the full level. I know this sounds awfully picky, but is this a cause for worry?

That is a smidgen I would not worry about it. The low to high is 1 qt, so 1/8 is very lottle over

the problem with a high oil level is that the oil is high enough for the crank to come in contact with the oil. think of milk or something in a blender, it whips the liquid causing it to foam and aerate. which means less oil is available for the lubrication system. this is more of a problem for more aggressive driving though, ie on the track. so you should be fine.

what is the oil level when hot?

Does it have any real bearing on causing leaky seals say if it creates higher pressure?

are you asking if a high engine oil level causes leaky seals? if so, then no i dont think so. the only thing that would/should increase oil pressure would be the oil pump. age and the cleaning detergents in oil contribute to seal leaks

You're less a 1/4 quart over if you're really only 1/8" over the full line, so the oil on shaft is not going to be an issue. If you were a quart over, then maybe.
