I just got my LS, too. I LOVE how smooth the ride is. Once mine dies, the next one will be an LS460L or LS600hL. I love the LS's. They are my favorite.

If you drive until 430 dies, you'll be getting a 20 year old 460 or 600h. Unless your 430 has 300k already...

I drove the new then 2008 SC430 on a Taste of Lexus event in MA. I love the look of sc and was excited to drive one. When I got in the car I felt how rediculosly small it is inside, I had to open the roof to fit ok which was so not right for February. Alright I thought, maybe I'll enjoy performance and handling. No, it was the second worst handling car after GS450h and power delivery was too linear, there was no wow! with me pushed in the seat. Even is250 felt much faster than sc and LS460L/600hL were like examples of perfect handling compared to SC. Huge disapointment, I expected a lot more from this car.
Much later I drove a 1998 SC400 - oh my GOD! What an awesome ride! Power delivery was smooth, little press on accelerator and with no delay you're flying away, great handling. The best part was I could fit in it and be comfortable at the same time. I wish new technology of SC430 would be combined with an old SC400, I know I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

I now have the best of both worlds, a Mazdaspeed Miata and an LS430. A fun car for curvy backroads and an Interstate cruiser that is unbeatable. I love them both.

I just bought a used 012 VW TDI Executive Touareg with 8k miles. Sweet ride a tad bit bumpy at low speeds but tolerable and everything else is primo and I can tow 8k lbs. I love my LS and will drive this bad boy into the ground from now, 173k, but the Touareg is my newest grinnenist, ride. Just like my LS at 55k when I bought er just want to wake up in the middle of the night and go for a 400lb torguey drive.

Its crazy how this car makes other cars feel so cheap....just got back from a road trip in my 2012 toyota avalon thats the top car they have and its got all the bells and whistles but after being on the road 5 min you see an immediate difference. Now im not talking the quality of the interior or anything like that cuz honestly for the top of the line toyota it feels very cheap maybe cuz im comparing it to the ls but damn even the motor noise and just over all feel of the ar is so night and day its hard to imagine how i went so long with out having ever buying one before lol

I drove a pile of cars and really appreciated the creature comforts my 04 has when the many cars I drove barely had auto windows all around, or smart key, or power steering wheel.

The Audi A8 and BMW 535XI almost got me but the reliability factor steered me to the Touareg as I could get a dealer warrantee for 1600 bucks inclusive to 110k as I am stil leary of German car reliability where the LS is bulletproof. There where but these three cars in my 40 k ish price range that made me smile like the LS.

OMG! I love it! Ha ha! I guess I should rephrase. . . my next car when this one dies, will be an other LS.

Also, I recently rode in my friend's BMW, which was a first for me--never been in a BMW before (I just always considered them pieces of trash). That ride was one I would like to NOT repeat. It had a sporty ride, I guess, but it was so rough and it shifted so poorly. I felt like I was riding in a Jeep Cherokee. I do not understand why people like BMW's so much. Just different tastes, I guess. I love the soft comfortable feel of the Lexus ride.

We are in our 70s' and just purchased our 01 LS so this will probably be our last car. We love it.
The nice ride and fairly good mileage fits us just right.

I believe a lot of people equate smooth with boring...and rough with sporty. I drove a 550i manual several times and I come from Honda/Acura short throw smooth clutch so using the BMW transmission was harsh. If you feel being rough and edgy is sporty, then fine,
but it's not my taste.

I liked the X5 diesel,TDI better of course, and both the 535 and A8 are always at the top reviews in their class. The 535 with sport suspension, multicontour seats and A8 with the auto leveling multi adjustable suspensiona are both real fun and pleasant to drive I thought.

With my Touareg now it is just nice to have a car at 35-40 mph turns do not feel like you are sliding out of your seat (mind you I have high miles on the clock)but I still enjoy my LS alot as do most of my passengers.

I have had alot of fun with the LS if I ever was to get a car in its class it would be the A8 100k warrantee and pound the heck out of it the aluminum frame feels just right. The new A8 with the supercharged 6(76g's new) is a sweet ride. In 3-4 years it will be on my radar.

I'll stick with Toyota reliability. We did the German car thing in the
80s. (Audi & BMW) I know their reliability has improved, but Japanese cars have spoiled us.

Yeah, I'd drive something else no problem. It's just a car. I'm a pretty big fan of my Subaru and drive it a lot. I also like my pickup truck.

Its very hard to drive a different brand after owning a Lexus. Quality, style and features are top to none.
