Default Serious no-start problem

Here we go... Just when i thought i'd enjoy my LS...

Ok, today my 2001 stalled when coming to a stop, after turning, but restarted right away.
About 10 miles and 30mins later it happened again.
But this time it won't start at all.
It cranks, no fuel smell when cranking. No fuel, right?
Nope.
Ok, here's the list of the strangest symthoms:
1. No gear position indication on dash AND 'Switch to P' on display (it's ON P).
2. 'E' instead of ambient temp readout on top display (when ign tuned on).
3. Fans run at full even when car cooled down.
4. !!! No DLC/OBD connection to the car (it always worked).
5. No check engine light when turning ign.
6. No backup lights when switched to R with ign on.
7. My stoplights work and shift lock/unlock works.

Checked all related fuses, relays. Stumped.

I'm posting this in a remote hope, that somebody encountered this before.
Looks like engine ecu doesn't receive all the power? Is it a alarm's fault (fob, smartkey - everything works)?

Thanks

Did you try unhooking a battery for 20 min? If not, try it, should reset the ecu.

Will try.
But i'm inclined towards ECU not receiving power at all.

Found a post at some Lexus forum. Describes exactly same problem with exact symthoms but on RXII.
Was solved by electrician without any description apart from 'it was some BCM malfunction', no description of what was done to fix, apart from 'it took 1.5hrs but was solved'...
Darn.

How's your battery? A lot of odd thing that don't make sense happen with a weak battery.

Battery replaced recently, good solid charge. Was cranking for a good half hour on and off and it's still strong.
Apparently, i have no power to engine ECU, so no fuel injection and no ignition.
Will check EFI relay and fuse.
****** fri 13.

Can you borrow a scanner from someone. It may have thrown codes and most scanner will work for basic stuff.

I was going to say battery, but if it's new, then should be fine. Modern cars and their fancy computers are going to rule the world one day !!! The days of good battery will start anything are long gone. All these ECU that "sense" some variance and prevents the car from even starting up.

Hope you find a quick and relatively inexpensive fix. Keep us updated for future reference.

... No power to ECU means no comms on the multiplex bus. I do have a toyota scanner. It's not reading jack ...

Ok, if anyone is able to read wiring diagrams from service manual.
I need an idea on ROUTING the 'B-W' wire from driver-side underhood J/B's relay marked EFI MAIN to the ECU bay (to the connector, wire B+). I do not understand from service manual HOW it's routed.

BTW, i fixed it, although somewhat temp fix. There's cut/short in the mentioned line/wire (inside the harness i presume). Temporarily i ran a thick wire from the relay to the B+ point of ECU. I disconnected the harness wire on both ends (cut from the ecu connector and cut from J/B). It felt like i'm hotwiring my own car.
But i'd like to fix the harness. Thus i need routing idea about this wire, so i can ascertain the scope of the job.

Thanks.

Ps. yes, car runs fine.
Pps. no, i wouldn't post on this board if it was something as trivial as flat tire, flat batt, dirty windscreen etc...

Do you think you should put an in-line fuse in your new wire just in case?

This line is already fused (before relay) by EFI1 fuse (30A), so there's no point doing that. As i understand, this line supplies voltage to all actuators, solenoids and valves, controlled by ECU, so it's really high-amp line.

OK Just wondered if there was already a fuse or you inserted your own.
As long as it is fused you are good to go.

I've heard of a problem like this with a Landcruiser. IIRC, turned out to be a loose ground on the battery where it attaches to the body.
