Default UL Air Suspension Advice....

Hi everyone! My 2001 UL has 151k miles on her and i really love the car. My primary concern with the UL has always been the air suspension going out, as I have not done much suspension work in the past. I have inspected the shocks, and they don't appear to be leaking, however the ride quality isn't great. Around town (we have pretty rough roads) the ride is pretty bad. However when I hit a smooth patch or am on the the highway, the car floats and its truly unbelievable how smooth it is. I am thinking the air shocks are starting to go. Here's what I am thinking. Go about another year or as long as I can with the air suspension, then switch it out when I get new tires.

Thoughts on this? Is there anything I can change out (bushings, controls arms etc) to improve the ride? Are coil overs the cheapest option for switching out the air shocks? Any other ways to determine the status of the air suspension system??

Thanks for your help!

I was told from my local Lexus dealer, that the sensors can sometimes go bad, and the remedy is to have them replaced. I believe that it is significantly less than replacing the airbags, but still in the $1000 price range I was having the same trouble, and that was what they said was most common. . .

Bummer, this is an expensive system. Its interesting because i love my LS, and i also wonder if i am expecting such a perfect ride quality with it that i am being too picky. Obviously something is wrong, but its not so bad its intolerable.

Do a suspension diag. It may be bushings.

How would I go about doing this and verifying it's the bushings?
