New engine and transmission mounts--wow!
Took my UL in to have the suspension noises looked at and was told all three if my engine and transmission mounts were toast. Had them replaced and wow what a difference. Car feels smoother, more solid and much quieter overall. I couldn't be happier. I took the car in because I thought my air suspension was done, but after a really thorough review, my air suspension is leak free and in good condition at 150k! Take heart fellow UL owners!!!

I am amused because many of us LS400 drivers have experienced the before-after of engine and tranny mount freshening. Keep in mind the carrier bushings if you experience any rear end suspension noises.

what kind of noises were you hearing, and why did you think it was suspension related? I have 130k on my '02 UL and have some suspensions noises also, plus a couple others that I can't figure out. Had the transmission mount replaced but didn't notice any difference. Also I had every suspension part replaced last year so I am not too happy that it doesn't feel 100% new again. It feels pretty darn good, but not perfect.

My suspension was clunky over holes (still is) but the car itself was clunky over bumps. My rear end was clunking and the car just didn't feel solid. I thought it was the suspension, but apparently not. My car feels more solid, quieter and a little smoother over bumps. My tech told me that UL suspensions as they age can get rough on side streets, but there was no components that needed to be replaced. On the highway, my car rides like a cloud, around town, there are some nasty holes that it takes pretty hard. Overall I am happy with the mounts, I am planning on removing the air suspension when it goes and putting coils on it, but hopefully thats a year or two from now.

Tranny mount is almost non-wear part. Engine mounts on the other hand is complex oil-charged pillows.
When i suspected my engine mounts is bad (and one was torn when i took it off), i had more than usual vibrations in the steering idling at stop.

From what you are saying, I think your air strut is on the verge of going bad, because they are clunky and feel rough on side streets. The fact that they are leak free doesn't mean they are not going bad. When I removed my 100% bad air strut off my car myself, they were bone dry.
