Mulally: "Finest car in the world"
I just now ran across this Sept. 11, 2006 interview with Alan Mulally, Ford's new CEO.
Mulally, who recently replaced TomFord*as the CEO of Ford, admitted to journalists that he drives a*Lexus LS430because "it's the finest*car*in the world." After studying all the cars on the market, he found the*Lexus*was the best. This frank admission shows us that Mulally has what it takes to bring Ford back in to the game. The 37-year Boeing veteran knows he has a tough task ahead of him with Ford sales having dropped by more than 25% over the last five years.
Mulally is obviously a brilliant guy, the way he has helped bring Ford back. His choice of cars was further proof.

I think his experience with his LS has definitely improved Fords. I sat in a rental (Taurus w/ the luxury options) and it used the same artificial leather (plastic) that most Toyotas do...definitely much better than the hard, cheap plastic known on most domestics.

There are styling hints of the LS430 in the Ford Five Hundred that came out after Mulally took office. I see these things from a. distance, quite a distance, and think I see a 430.

Yes, unfortunately the previous 500/Taurus does look like a 430 which stinks for the Lexus owner...

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, although the LS430 does carry some M-B S Class styling touches.

Carmakers are always copying one-another in styling elements. At least they aren't trying to patent their styling cues! By the time it would be resolved in court, the style would be obsolete.
