Comfortreds are dirt cheap this month at Sears for the 04 LS. My 225/55/17's are 125 bucks but MXV4's V rated or even H rated are neck and neck and what most others pony up extra dough for. Nice story, real nice,

They came in, my guy put'em on and I sent off the rebate...done. Or so I thought. My wife is not the type to talk about car tires...ever. She wouldn't shut up about these things, seriously it went on for days. We were going somewhere so I said let's take your car, I want to try these tires for myself.
I run them at 41 psi, curves and corners were fine, strong sidewalls and I noticed they have the deepest tread I've seen. Pretty much what I'd expect in a good tire...but here's the rub. I've been buying tires for 40 years and never experienced as soft a ride and as quiet a tire as these things. I mean it's downright eerie.
BTW, the tires I took off her car, Michelin MXV4...good tire, used them before but no comparison to the Goodyear. I remember when I first saw the name "ComforTred", dumb name I thought, now I understand.

How funny! I got a set of these on my wife's 09 Camry Hybrid to replace the Michelins. Sears seems to run the 160 rebate every fall but send in the rebate certified. She was always fretting the winter snows and wanted me to buy a SUV for 4wd. Got the Tred's and never heard another word from her about winter driving or an SUV. The deep tread pattern is good in snow as rated on TR. I had a Michelion "Energy" Tire OEM on the Camry(just plain crap in snow and the stab track on a FWD car is much less valuable then on a RWD car) but my gas mileage with the Tred's went up as did my gas mileage on the LS.

Not trying to burst your bubble, but just a warning. but my brother had the transmission changed in his 04 at 11,000 miles, only a handful of 04 ls430's had faulty tranny's which were repaired under warranty,Again some did not all.

I noticed the Car Fax report mentioned it as well, which was good to see.

my new LS430
I have been a Lexus fan since I rented a GS in Vegas in 1993 and an LS in 1994. I shopped for a new ES in 2007 but even that low priced entry car was beyond my comfort price level at the time so I made do with a Honda Accord. I would periodically look on cars.com and see what was out there but most of what I saw for sale had high miles with a lot of wear. I did see an LS430 a few months back that was about 8 years old, white with a tan interior and very low miles for a car that old, about 32K. I was tempted to drive and look at it but it was at a dealer many miles away and my Honda runs fine so I never went. Last Thursday on a whim I was looking at cars.com and came across a black on black 2006 LS430 with 24,500 miles at an asking price that was in my range. No photos but it pricked my interest. On Friday still no photos on cars.com but there were photos on the dealers website and the car looked good. I drove over Saturday and looked it over and it looked better in person. I took it for a drive and was very impressed. Comfortable, no rattles, new tires, good brakes so I sat down and haggled with the salesman. Usual give and take and we finally reached a deal I was happy with. I drove home and got my Honda title and extra keys, drove back and paid the difference between my trade-in and the Lexus and left the proud owner of a 2006 LS430 with only 24,500 miles. Spent the next day washing and waxing it and except for a few scratches, paint chips and two small dings the car is in excellent shape. I am very happy so far. I just need to learn how to operate everything and this site has helped. I am curious for opinions on what this car should have sold for ....
