Default Advice on buying a high mileage LS430 (merged threads)

Hi guys i currently have a 1996 ls400 and am considering trading it in for a LS430 i found one but it has 106,000 miles dealer says it has had one owner and that it has good service records, they want 16,000 for it, is that a good price or are they asking too much, i know th LS will go forever with proper maintenence but i would just like to get a little input, Thanks

What year is it?

The longevity of the LS is well documented on these forums. That's a very nice price on a UL.

thats probably about the going rate for that car, give or take 2k...

sadly, that will be me in 5 years trying to sell my 9 year old UL LS430 with high mileage, trying to figure out why i was only offered 16k for a nice ul ls lex.

personally, I'd rather get the NON ultra and use the saved money on aftermarket air sus.

Yeah i would definetley rather have non air too but i just love the Ul so much, especially that rosewood on the black leather i think it's just beautiful, is the air suspension really that bad though? could i possibly just change it back to regular shocks and be done with the air suspension

106000 miles on a 01 LS is nothing.
Inspect the car and get it.
Personally I would get a UL just for all the extras, you can convert the suspension later.

i suggest trying to get that UL car for maybe 2k less... not sure how long the OEM air suspension lasts but even on the old school ls400 cars that had air... i vaguely remember reading about how OEM replacements for the air suspension is something like 1k per corner. EEK!

I would imagine the ls430 ul is along the same price for replacement suspension pieces.

i looked at an 05 ul with 56k miles on it and had the price been like 26-27k i would have considered it, but they wouldn't budge below like 31-32k and i ended up getting one with 29k miles for 32k so for me 60k on an 05 or 45-50k on an 06 max. make sure the 60k has been done if possible too.
