Default 2004 LS430 Heated Seat Problem

My driver's side heated seat is not working very well. It does heat a bit. The dealer wanted lots of money to replace the whole seat. Is that really the only way to fix the heating problem?

Default heater's working is subtile

The heating is not spectacular. Only just noticeable.
You could compare its function with the passenger side to have a reference and to see (feel) if anything is wrong with it.

The dealer always just replaces a whole unit. In this case a very expensive complete seat....
The Lexus mechanics are not encouraged to repair things, just to exchange (terribly) expensive parts.

I have same year and my seat just barely gets warm. I was shocked because my previous Chrysler 300 seats had alot more warmth and it heated very quickly. Whats the deal?

People keep saying the heat does not work well in this model car. That may be so, but the passenger seat heater works much better than the driver's seat heater. I know the driver's seat heater used to work better.

That is a good reference.
So at least you have established that something is not working as it should be.

Do you have the feeling that the problem occurs equally with the back heating and with the seat heating or is it only the seat heating that is worse?

I compared the front passenger seat with the driver's seat. The passenger seat feels like there are two areas that heat, the back and the seat. My driver's seat is only heating the back. Any ideas how to fix the seat heater?

I've noticed that the seat warmer on my LS doesn't get overly warm either. I would contact these guys. http://www.heatedseatkits.com/ I would think that an upholstery shop could help you replace the existing element with one of these aftermarket elements.

Have you used this heated seat company or know someone who has?

I haven't personally, but I have read a lot of good reviews about their products. They claim that they use the same heating elements as many of the OEMs.

Take it to a decent car upholstery shop. They can usually replace the heating element mat for a lot less than the dealer would charge. If the car has a lot of miles on it you might consider ordering a new OEM seat cushion and having the shop replace the seat cushion also while they have the seat cover off and the seat opened up.

The seat heaters are from electrical heating elements and do not utilize airflow for heating. The cooling feature does utilize airflow for cooling. Consequently, the seat filters only affect cooling and not heating capability.

The UL's have rear seat filters for the cooling. You have to recline the seats to get to them. Talk about out of sight.

Default seat heater problem never fixed

Does anyone know where I can get the electrical wiring diagram for the seat heaters on a 2004 LS430?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
