Childish bickering, p_ _ _ing contest, reminds me of Ford versus Chevy arguments when I was in high school...buy and drive whatever you wish.

 

Plus to that. If there was only one car available, it would be very boring. Hey, we talk about reliability here but maybe to those that drive MB and such, the "fun" of driving negates the visits to the shop. To each their own, as long as we love Lexus, that's all that matters. This debate is like converting a Republican to a Democrat and vice versa... ain't gonna happen.

 

I like to think -if- the W220 had the overall reliability we have seen in the LS's what my decision might be.

 

One nice thing about Lexus is that you usually can get parts and service thru a Toyota deler if need be. I live in a podunk town and the nearest M-B dealer is. 100 miles away. There is often no competent M-B service in smaller towns and rural areas.

You had an argument with Oliverk though, he will argue with any benzworld member about any issue.

So does that make everyone else there idiots because they don't agree with your notion that the LS430 is superior? Or are they idiots because they think the W220 interior is better looking? Overall it was civil so I don't understand the name calling. I guess it just goes to show your low class.

I almost bought one, but compared to both the s class that came before and after, it was a horrible car. And the interior, its cheap, almost all of them have things on the inside that are broken or cracked. Not to mention the rust issues the cars have. Theres a reason why a $100k car is now going for $6k only 9 years later

 

i have both right now, a 06 ls430 and a 04 s55 and i like everything about the mercedes better.

the ls430 is basically a updated copy of the w140 which makes it an excellent car. it brought up to date everything that was outdated in the w140.

ive owned two w140s a 96 and a 98 and the w220 03+ is a better car.

Okay, guilty as charged. Lol I guess I was responding to being called "Junior" and "Son" by all you MB gods. Let's be OBJECTIVE here. I prefer the style, name, and cachet of an S-class more than the Lexus counterpart myself, but sorry, the W220 was NOT a superior car to the LS430 like all the other generations of S-class were! End of story. Everyone knows this except you people.

The title of the thread was "W220 UTTER PIECES OF JUNK!!" So by your admission the car isn't quite up to snuff!

LS430 does have a cheap feeling interior.

You can't deny that.

 

Compared to a W220? I think not if you compare apples to apples. Don't compare a base LS to a S550.

Where do you feel the LS is cheap and what is the comparable to other vehicles? I have an '04 CL trim and not one single misaligned trim or creak anywhere so don't see how that can be cheap. Soft touch materials anywhere you would normally touch.

 

I have a 1991 Mercedes 300e, and a 2005 Saab 9-5 Aero.

But, I am planning on the purchase of an LS430 sometime in the near future so that would be
the reason I'm here
