Default Thinking about deleting mufflers or resonators

I have read the threads on deleting mufflers and/or res, I'd like a little noise, sweet and low maybe but cant decide whether to do it. Please help me with the following questions:

Should I delete the resonator(s) or the mufflers?

How many mufflers and resonators are on the 2002 ls430?

Is it likely to throw a code ?

Is there any possibility of engine damage?

I see some of the BMW folks have done it and it sounds good. And some ls owners have done it. If I dont like it I can just put them back.

Thanks for input.

If you want the slight increase in exhaust note this will do it. You've probably read about the drone in the LS400's with the pipe extension when removing the mufflers. Remove the rear section and see how you like it. Invariably it leads to more exhaust mods. If you are thinking of it, do it all: mandrel bent tubes along with a nice flowing Y adapter and you're choice of mufflers.

On my SC430 I deleted the resonators first. It has a slightly louder exhaust note, but still "Lexus" like in terms of noise. I then changed out my stock intake for a cold-air intake. The combination of the intake and deleted resonators did the trick. The engine and exhaust note finally matched the sportiness I was looking for.

I would start with resonators. If you want it louder, delete mufflers. If you want it louder, add an intake. And so on. Good luck!

From what I've seen on SC400's and LS400's, deleting both the resonator and muffler will make it loud but it will sound good. Just a muffler delete would probably be what you're looking for.

The resonator delete with an intake will sound good too.
