Ls > rl ?

Thanks, I think what I drove then was the TL and it must have been the non AWD model as there was a fair amount of torque steer. The RL is an older platform which looks like it is being updated, starting MSRP I think is like 48K.

My personal opinion is that Acura isn't quite in the same class as Lexus. I don't say that to be a "fanboy", Lexus definitely has it's faults and Acura's are usually priced lower to the comparable Lexus model, so it's not exactly an insult.
I have several friends with Acuras, and I just don't get the sense of quality like I do with Lexus, even though I definitely think they're nice cars. I also used to own an Infiniti and I felt the same way. Great car, but it just didn't feel as high quality.
You can pick used RLs up for a song, Acura has a really hard time moving their entire lineup in the US.

I have an Acura MDX so I would not flame myself, but Lexus is definitely above Acura in interior appointments. The materials in a Lexus are better and fit is better too. I know the wood in Acuras are not real... but does it have to look and feel so fake?

I had 89 Legend and 99 RL - Great cars but not as good as a LS430. The LS wins hands down in terms of interior creature comforts and smooth comfortable ride. The Acura V6 while a great motor, is easily bested in every way by the LS430's super smooth V8 Lexus motor (including real life avg MPG).
I loved my Acuras and drove them for 20 years, but at this point, having lived with a 2006 LS430 for 3 plus years, the RL would be a bit of a step down for me from the LS.
I know the RL has been updated for 2013 so it might get another look if I totalled my car and had to get something else - as the LS460 doesn't quiet feel right to me - a great car but when you get into the details on a 460, just seems over powered, too heavy, and ongoing maintenance costs are likely double costs for LS430. If Im gonna pay big maint costs I may just go with a fully optioned E350 just to chance the pace. But most likely thing is I'd just hunt for another low mile cherry LS430.

I agree with BradTank, Lexus and Acura just aren't in the same class.

My cousin have one of those RL and I drive it every now and then. IMO it just doesn't compare up to the LS. From the ride comfort to quietness LS is far more superior. However it does feel more sportier so it'll compare more with the GS series.

Not a big fan of RL at all. I drove a new then 2005 RL fully loaded, it was my boss' car and he sent me constantly to do his errands. Not impressed with power at all, interior quality is just ok, too many small buttons on center console. TL on the other hand is more appealing to me.

I purchased my 04-LS after my RL was totaled. The RL was a good car but, as much as I tried, I never loved it. The difference in the feel of the LS (ride, fit/finish, quality) is so great compared to the RL. To me it was like the RL was engineered by people that hate cars.
