Rain sensing wiper question
I love the rain sensing wipers but in some cases I think it is overly sensitive. When my LS is parked outside in the cold of night for a few hours (around 40-50 degree temperature) the wipers turn on almost non stop when I turn the car on even if it is not raining. I understand that there might be some moisture formed from the cold but it shouldn't be that sensitive. The wipers turn on as if it was raining very hard and wouldn't stop. I actually had to turn it off manually. Does this happen to any of you? I even tried to lower sensitivity to minimum but it still does not stop. Perhaps the sensor gets wet from the moisture maybe?

Yep, when left outside, mine does the same thing in this coldish/foggy temperature, especially if coastal (I"m in Pacific Beach, CA). Run the defroster for a little bit and the sensor eases up; no adjusting of the + or - will fix it.

Mine does the same on frosty/wet/foggy days. It can't be helped, nothing wrong with it, just the nature of the beast. I just turn mine off until everything is toasty warm and clear. Then it is fine.

The sensor is inside the cabin side of the windshield up behind the rear view mirror. It cannot detect moisture. Very likely reacts optically to droplets or basically any foreign objects on the glass - so frost or condensate would have same effect as rain drops. Just take it off auto mode first thing in the am if the car has been outside.
