I've recently had MY2005 windshield replaced and MY1999 LX470 glass both OEM. I have Travelers Ins. with a $100. deductible. They have a windshield/ glass agent and both times i had to do some arm twisting, but she covered it.
The LS430 was around $2100. with all three weatherstrips replaced. The LX470 was around $1650. The installer specializes in Lexus installs. He deals directly with my Ins. Co. If anyone is in Norcal and needs a recommendation i can pass on his info.
Got my windshield replaced about 10 years ago with OEM from Allstate (no cost to me) without a fight. It has held up well over time with no issues. It's the best way to go. PS...I have the Lexus logo imprinted on the glass. The cost was approximately $2,000 back then.
Well, friends, I hit the motherload, had a little dream come true and got my pitted, 19-year-old windshield cracked by a rock so I could finally qualify for a new one. I went through Glass America, and to my delight and shock they could not find an aftermarket so State Farm approved OEM!! I went to the shop and just out of curiosity asked to see the glass and was a little kid at Christmas when I saw the "made in Japan" sticker and blue tint on top. Sure enough, original Asahi (AGC) DOT-20:
