Recently purchased '06 LS430 w/33k mi. Best decision of my life! I think the 430 body style stays true to the original LS design. Wonderful upgrade from my '99 LS400!

Funny thing about this thread an others before just like it, if an OP poses the same question on the LS460 board you would get owners of that forum saying get the 460 over the 430. Sounds like your heart was set on the 430 in the first place, both cars are great BUT are two different animals. I have owned them both and still love the 430 just like I love the 460 for the different things they bring to the table. Both have been reliable, a joy to own and I feel fortunate to have done so, it comes down to what character of the two you prefer b/c neither is a poor choice IMO.

Happy to report - my wife and I are loving our 2006 LS430 so far! Modern luxury package. Flint Mica (gray) with light gray leather interior.
So quiet, trans shifts so smoothly, we can't feel it.
Sadly, we sold the 91 LS400. It was hard for us regular folks to keep it maintained due to its age. And we think we made a good decision for us at this point in our life.
Maybe a LS460 later on. Never stop dreaming my wife says....

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. I will try and post a photo when I figure it out.
I'll miss the 91 LS400 but I am happy with the many upgrades in the LS430.
I just had to stay in the LS family. Didn't really like the ride of the RX or the ES.

Greetings everyone! Congrats to you moodylu on your new purchase. I too purchased my 04' LS 430 in Jan 2013. Coming from the Cadillac world, it's totally a difference and a pleasure to be a proud owner of the LS family. Again, Congrats on your new love.

that's not really true - they had one big issue on the LS460, the valve thing, so I would skip years 2007 & 2008 - but 2009 and newer are as good as an LS430 as far as reliability

I have an 02 430, just drove a '13 LS460 F Sport
First , I really LOVE my 430. I couldn't imagine a better car. Then I drove my neighbors '13 LS 460 F Sport. I was completely stunned as how much nicer, in just about every respect the 460 was compared to the 430. That is one fantastic vehicle. I don't plan on getting rid of my 430 anytime soon, since I can't afford a 460. But if the money and condition we the same, I'd be all over the 460 in a heartbeat.

First the VS recall had a 0.02% chance of failure, it was a voulentary recall and they recalls the cars that 'may' be affected to cover a just invade they fail. The 07-09 are reliable there has not been engine failures and issues dealing with transmission, engine or anything that will be keep the car in the shop. I owned a 07 that had over 149K with no issues the car was a pleasure to own just like the 430 was. The 460 gets a bad wrap for minor interior fit & finish which Lexus addressed all those first yr under warranty. The 460 is an amazing peice of engineering! I spent enought time with both the 430 & 460 neither are perfect but IMO the best flagship luxo sleds to own, if you do your homework on comparing the 460/600 to the euro cars in their class far as reliability NO contest!

Today I took my (new to me) '03 LS430 in to have the steering wheel tilt away feature disabled (based on advice in this forum) and to have a duplicate master key made. I also had the dealership look over the car with a fine-toothed comb for problems. Luckily, there were none!
In any event, I told the SA that I've wanted to purchase a LS430 for a long time. He then said, "If you like the way that the 430 rides and drives, DO NOT buy a 460." He told me stories about customers who regretted upgrading from the 430 to the 460. He's one of many persons who has shared that the 430 was designed to last for 300K+ miles with proper maintenance.

I have a 2002 LS 430 and a 2008 LS 460. Love them both however I enjoy the LS460 because of the updated features. However if the "toys" are not important you cant beat the ride and build quality of the LS 430.
