Default LS430 services

I've been searching for services to perform on my 04 LS430 with 115,500k. I bought the car with 47k and have done all major services to include new 02 sensors and a catalytic converter. I haven't seen anything on an tranny service as well as the diff fluid. The 90k coolant flush is the only exchange I see. The manual doesn't really say unless I'm not seeing it. Please forgive me but I also own a few Acuras and these are pretty standard for them.
wp/tb done
coolant changed
air filter
ac filter
cabin filter
spark plugs?
brake fluid?
tranny fluid?
diff fluid?

Here is my opinion - some of this is per factory some per my own judgement based on driving cars for 40+ years

tb - every 90K on the LS
coolant - every 60k assuming Toyota long life fluid
air filter - 15k miles/once a year or when dirty - inspect seasonally
ac filter - ?
cabin filter - once a year or when dirty - inspect seasonally - note cabin filter can be vacuumed clean and have its useful life extended for a very long time, same with under seat filters
spark plugs - think its every 110k?
brake fluid - every 2-3 years or when discolored
tranny fluid - Lexus says "lifetime" - I say every 50k miles for my own car
diff fluid - every 30k

I'd also add PS fluid - do 2-3 PS reservoir drain and fills - perform every 30-50k miles depending on how persnickety you are about it - I did it at 30 k - likely do it again at 60K - I like the PS fluid to stay fairly clean.

All the service information for these vehicles is available online....
Go to this site and plug in your vehicle information and miles and it will list out what you need to do and when...

http://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdriver...ce-schedule.do

If the car was service by Lexus you can log into this site and pull up the complete service history also. Very useful.

At 120K miles most major service should already be done... but they do recommend replacing the spark plugs now. I think they drive so smooth for so long, most people neglect this service.

tranny every 40 k with highway 30 with alot of local, rear diff every 5 years or 90k, the power steering fluid should be sucked out of resevoir with car lifted turn wheels left to right and keep sucking it out and replace.
replace the air filter every 12 if you keep it longer its the same cost because you lose 1mpg. hope this helps

Just curious, why do you lose 1 MPG if you keep an air filter longer than 12K miles? Have you tested this? I don't believe air filters affect MPG anymore. A dirty air filter might affect performance, but I believe the computers make adjustments for airflow these days, unlike the days of carburetors.

You are correct. If it does effect mileage it is minimal. Performance is effected though.

Lower rolling resistance tires is one of the best ways to gain some mpg. Plus running premium fuel.

Default Update

I'm about to start getting the 430 back on the road and I have a few more items I nned to get but need opinions/advice. So far I have brand new oem rotors, 18" Chrome oem LS430 rims, k&n air filter etc
I'm in the process of getting spark plugs, brake pads, gonna do fluid exchanges (tranny, brake, power steering etc)She's already had the TB service at 90k and I'm currently at 120k. I've had this car since 47k and every service had been at the dealer so I really want to keep it in pristine running condition.
OEM plugs yes/no?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-PC-Toyota-Lexus-SPARK-Plug-Set-Genuine-DENSO-Iridium-OEM-BRAND-NEW-frm-DEALER-/261323743185?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ALexus%7CModel%3ALS430&hash=item3cd81bdfd1&vxp=mtr
Pads? oem/non oem (hawk, posi quiet, dura maxx etc)
keep the k&n air filter?
Tires? 235/50/18 or 245/45/18. I know the oem are 245/45 but I'm looking for more of a luxury ride rather than a sporty one. I have to go on a budget for my 430 tires because the 460 needs new ires as well and we're planning to go with Michelins. Any input is welcome

ok, I'm rounding the bases headed home! All I have left is the Y-pipe replacement and the 120k service. Anyone here have this done at the dealership? What's the average cost?

Ok got everything done except, the dealer won't change the trans fluid. I understand it's "lifetime" but I have a hard time believing oil doesn't break down. I also forgot to get the diff fluid changed. What the oil required for that?

The following is correct for the '05, and I believe that it applies to the '04 also.
There may or may not be a tag on the differential stating that only synthetic lube is to be used. Follow that. The correct stuff is specified in the owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can log on to Lexus.com, register a userID, and request a free one.
You can also download a softcopy of it for your reading enjoyment :-)
Oh, you can also get a readout of all maintenance performed at any Lexus dealer on that car.

There is quite a debate on this subforum regarding changing WS ATF in the sealed transmission.
The consensus seems to be change it about 100K intervals, but you will have to decide for yourself.

I wonder how many dealers will turn down an offer to change a fluid requested by the customer on the grounds that the current fluid is fine/OK ?
Some dealers will want to change anything and everything: they might even want to change the air inside your tires! $$$ Lol!
