NEW member need advice '92 or '01
OK so, I have a 95 LS and looking at two options here for another Lex. I'm looking at a 92 LS original owner, all maintenance done at the dealer and up to date with 159K mi always garaged (this thing looks brand new). Or an 2001 LS 142K original owner all maintenance done at the dealer (with the exception of never having the timing belt done) for twice as much for the 92. plese give me your input i really like both styles so new or old is not an issue i just want advice for the better purchase (i've been looking for another Lex going on a year now)

Welcome! I would be wary of the overall level of care the LS430 received if it hadn't received a timing belt (and assumed water pump) change after 12 years and 142K miles. I'm sure the dealer would have advised the owner to have it done by now. What other necessary maintenance did the owner pass on? Be sure to check the service histories on Lexus owner's site with the VIN and not take the owners' word for them.

Sign up, enter the VIN, and click on service history. If you don't buy the car, delete it from your account. Rumor has it you shouldn't do this too much or you can be banned, as that's not the purpose of the site.

Choice between two UL 01's:
A- $12,500. 85,000 miles. TB not done but ok maintained. 3 owners )
B- $13,500. 150,000 mi. (2 owners) Lexus replaced tranny at 90k on recall (owner says). Oil pump went out and shot engine. Bring rebuilt now by a mechanic with good reputation. Seller spending $5,500. Brakes and tires done 6 mo ago.
Advice??
