City versus hwy driving? How long did your last cars breaks last with your routine driving? LS is a heavy car I have seen em go at 30k on carfax reports I get 60-80k

How long they last all depends on how much you use them. If you drive a long trip cross country you can use your brakes very little in 4000 miles, but if you drive same miles in local stop-n-go traffic, you could lose 1/3 of your pads. For me, i do about 60/40 highway and i got about 56k from front and almost 80k on rear. My local is not traffic local, it's local grocery and weekend drivings.

+1 depends on your driving habits. as well as the material the brake pads are made of.

agree with other posters. LS is a heavy beasty, but has enormous brakes, so it all depends on driving style - if you drive gentle with lots of plan ahead coasting into stops and red lights, keep a safe interval and therefore do a lot less braking, the pads will easily last 50-60k. But if a person drives like a typical DFW area aggressive d-bag, meaning 70mph while 6 feet behind folks bumper, and accelerating into stop lights ahead, and constant foot on the brakes as a result, then the LS pads will be worn out in 20-25k or less.

Brake pad life is completely dependent on how much city driving/stopping/braking you do. My first set was shot at 25K miles, meaning 1mm left until hitting the sensor (bought the car at 22K mi, PO must have driven 22K mi in the city!). From 25-30K mi, I was driving only in the city, so the pads wore down by about 1/3 in less than 2 yrs. Now that I live in the countryside and only have 6 traffic lights over 22 miles on my commute, the pads have shown little additional wear at 60K mi. I'll probably change them out this fall with about 3-4mm remaining since as pads get thinner, their ability to absorb heat is reduced. So I guess I could summarize that with only city driving, pads will last less than 20K mi. With all country driving, they'd probably last 60K miles!
