I traded my '03 LS430 for a '05LS430 (and I'm so happy that I did!)
I know that there are a lot of readers who've considered this. I read a lot of the threads comparing the '01-'03 to the '04-'06 with opinions all over the map. My opinion is to do it! Here are some reasons why I did (in no particular order):
1. The 6-speed transmission helps with gas mileage and is more "intelligent" than the 5-speed when it comes to downshifting, etc.
2. Smartacces
3. Bluetooth
4. Rearview camera (helps with a big car!)
5. Projector headlights + redesigned front end
6. Redesigned back end + new taillights + exposed exhaust tips.
7. The nav is a generation newer and looks more advanced (menus, button layout)
8. Suspension: The ride is different; still luxurious but less floaty.
I decided to buy a '05 from my local Lexus dealership that had been bought new and serviced exclusively at that location. Although I could have gotten a cheaper car had I gone to another city, I know that the my Lexus dealership has very high standards for cars they take on trade. Aside from having records for everything done to the car, the dealership poured a lot of time and money into the car to bring it up to what are essentially CPO standards. Here are a few pics:

The car had just over 100K miles. The selling price was around $17.5K.
Perhaps a bit toward the high end, but dealer prep included the 105K scheduled service, rear diff service, new front and rear brakes, an alignment, fuel system service, etc.
Fortunately for me the previous owner had the timing belt replaced on schedule at 90K along with a brake system flush and coolant change.

I don't think so. I've heard a lot of people who traded in their 430s for 460s say that they regret the decision. My Lexus SA has told me the same thing (candidly, of course). Aside from that, for whatever reason the 460 doesn't excite me.
