Default polishing the dull Chrome trim

For those that have dull chrome trim along windows and bumpers. using a polishing bar that I had bought at Sears and a Dremel tool. My son and I managed to patiently polish the trim. The result was a much better looking LS430.
NOTE do not polish to hard its chromed plastic. we ran the tool at the #1 and #2speed, wipe with a rag as you go to see how your progress is going.

Did you use a buffer to apply it? I have some of that chrome polish in my garage but I don't have a buffer/polisher.

Just use a polishing or scratch compound with a pad and apply by hand. It will polish up fairly easily and you won't have to risk overpolishing and taking off the finish altogether. Then wax it more frequently than you have been and all will be good.

The oxidation of these chrome pieces can occur slowly over a long time and you may not even notice it has happened, especially if its on a silver car.

I highly recommend Mother's Chrome Polish applied and buffed off using microfibre towels. I've been doing it that way for a long time and it works very well on the trim and chrome wheels.

You can also protect the cleaned surface with a liquid polymer sealant like Z-CS, and the next time it gets dirty, just wipe clean with a cotton or microfibre cloth.

Cool, I've got a bunch of old rags laying around so that works out great.

I've got a few polishing compounds. I may try one of them if the Mothers polish doesn't give me the results I want.

I currently have my front bumper removed, and I'd like to remove the "chrome" trim before I send the bumper cover off to be painted. How's the trim piece held onto the bumper?

I polished mine by hand with a terry towel and Mother Chrome Polish. It actually came out pretty good. I thought I was going to have to buy all new chrome trim until ths thread popped up.

I've never seen another LS where this the back window and front windshield trim was actually shiny like this.
