2006 LS430 price check
Hey guys,
I found a mint 2006, custom luxury package with 80k miles. It's a one owner with good records. Tires and brakes are 90%.
What is a good price for this car?
Thanks

That sounds like one good car. What is the color combo?
Having owned a custom luxury for more than 4 years now I would recommend jumping on it asap.
I would say don't go above $20 considering that you have to do major 90K server in just another 10K miles.
Others can give you a more accurate price point.

wholesale is likely 18k at best - retail should be about 20k with those miles

The car is silver with dark charcoal interior and 18" wheels.
The car is at a dealer (non-Lexus).
They are asking $22k. Sounds like I need to try and negotiate them down to $20k.
Is KBB not realistic in determining the actual market value of these cars? According to their website, private party is $20.2k (VG cond) and $23k retail. They do not have a CL option for 2006, so I used ML.
Thanks

According to the NADA guides....
http://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/2006/...D-LS430/Values
$22k is clean retail that you'd expect to pay at a dealer...
$20k is the average trade in....
If I was buying from an individual then I'd like to get below $20k...
From a dealer, close to $20k...
According to NADA there is a huge increase/premium in price due to the low miles.... check the link.

I offered them $20k and they quickly declined.
They said $21.5k was the lowest they would go.
I don't want to overpay, but would also prefer to end my search. As you guys know, car shopping can be time consuming.
Should I keep looking or pull the trigger?

I paid 18,5 for my 04 UL with 104k miles, which may seem like a lot but it has everything and many new items and a full service history. New Michelin tires, new brakes, full 90k service, new door speakers, new arm rest, 1 owner who brought the car to the dealer every 5k miles, and in just fantastic shape. I saw 04's going for as much as 3 or 4 grand less but nowhere near as nice condition. I would not fret over a few grand if the car is in pristine condition and has the service history to back it up.

Get what you want and what your heart is happy with and what you'll be happy to brag about months down the road. What Lavrishevo failed to share was the incredible clean condition of his purchase and his unique interior color with his exterior. Really a sharp car.
And yes, car shopping is time consuming...decide what you have more of: time or money...and spend the one you have the most of...
But in the end... only you have to be happy with the purchase... each of us will have our own opinions... Dealer will hold out for his price because he's in business to make money.. and they know another buyer will be along soon. Individual sellers are more eager to sell, and they will deal more readily.

They might call you in a couple days if they don't sell it by then..

Used cars are like buses. There will be another one along in a few minutes.
I have the same pangs though when I see a keeper I'd like to pull the trigger on. It's very hard to avoid the emotional pull.
Here's the bottom line. Either choice will work. You either pull the trigger on this (as you are being sorely tempted now) or you wait and save a few thousand. You have to decide. Which will you get along with better and forget the downside quicker?

indeed, agree with others....there will always be another fine used car come along at a good price. These LS430s are not '70 Hemi Cudas after all. There are plenty to be had at good prices. If I were you, I'd decide what is a good deal based on your careful study of the market, make sure the dealer knows you're serious and ready to buy, and let him know why you think xxxx is a fair price, and that you're perfectly happy to walk and wait for another. You control the situation, don't let him yank you around emotionally.

The dealer is trying to maximize profit. They have no attachment to that car. They bought a nice clean car at a very good price. Maybe they bought a lemon and had to sink a bunch of money into it, that is their problem, not yours. Dealers make their money when they buy low because they list high and see what they can get. Ask yourself what is the dealer's value added to you? Are they offering a 6 month warranty? Do they have a service department? The dealer needs to sell that car and eventually they will either find a buyer or lower the price. Can you wait a month? You have the option to buy many cars, they need to sell that one.
