Default Want to upgrade from 17" to 18" wheels, moreso GS430 wheel style, need question help

I'm going to replace the standard 17" wheels & tires on my 2004 LS for chrome 18" wheels.

I do of course like the 18" wheels that orginally come on the LS, but i to like the 18" wheels that were offered on the 2006-2007 GS models. Do those fit without anything needed to be modified? What tire size should I have? all help would be appreciated.

I think you would need spacers for the front wheels to clear the brakes. A 10mm spacer should be fine.

As far as tire sizes go, the 18 inch LS430 wheels came with 245/45/18's all around. I would run something like that.

As far as I'm aware, the GS 350 wheels from from '06+ clear the calipers. Several of the LS400's have had the 18" five spokes mounted.

If you are dropped, these 8" wide wheels are pretty conservative so a spacer will move them out nicer. Stock diameter would be a 245/45 as suggested though if you want just a bit shorter sidewall, a 245/40 is within 3% difference to not be an issue in use.

So you would recommend front 10mm spacers to just make room for the caliber and to make the
wheel more flush with body? Rear with no changes should be fine? Alsom what about the tire sensors, valve stem etc......can those just be swapped over? I never even seen an indicator for the TPMS. does the car even have one lol

No, on tpms. I would test fit before investing in spacers. Personally, I'm not a fan of spacers in general. They tend to introduce vibrations. Make sure to always get hub centric spacers when using them. Going from 45 to a 40mm is a pretty noticeable difference. The less the side wall the less comfort. They may look better but the ride quality suffers. So does your mpg. I have a lovely set of chrome 19's but I am hesitant to put them on as I know the ride quality will suffer.

The 05 and 06 do indeed have a TPMS, and I believe that the 04 does also.
However, it does not sense the pressure itself, but calculates the effective diameter of the tire indirectly by measuring rotation rate.
The current measurement is compared with that from the "reset" operation, and if significantly smaller (higher rotation speed), the warning is activated.

Interesting, I did not know this. Thanks for the correction. I saw this menu but did not realize it worked this way.

Which do you like better? the 5 spoke GS wheels on the LS or the 5 spoke LS wheels? I torn on which one to get. We all are use to seeing the bigger spoke LS430 5 spoke. Will be going chrome though.

The LS wheels. Just for the sake that you don't need spacers.

I prefer the LS wheels assuming they're chrome.

The LS wheels will have the same 18x8 +45 spec as the GS wheels. The thinner spoke style may appeal. Spacers aren't necessary, that's just if the desire for a slightly better wheel well fitment is wanted.

Would be interesting if there is any weight difference between them. Speaking factory OEM wheel weights.
