Picked up this sports edition 2005 with 49k today. I was really confused between a ls460 or a ls430 guys over here helped my decision towards a ls430. here's are the pics. The car is in amazing condition inside out..looks sharp. i will get some tints and then ipod integration/nav update. That is pretty much i have planned..
i didnt care for a UL just because i have 2 little kids and no one is using the back seat + i wanted black interior most of them were Tan.
They also had a LFA sitting in there, first time i have seen in person ..really nice

I've had a brand new 05 LS430, a lightly used 08 LS460L and brand new 2012 LS460L.
The LS460 has a few nice features with the stereo system but volume is seriously nannied from 2010 on... The long wheelbase IS very nice... The updated interior/exterior is also a big plus.
However, in my opinion, everything else goes to the LS430. To me, it's just a nicer car to be in whether driver or passenger. The leather is softer, the build quality is better, it's quieter, softer riding...
Enjoy your LS430...

I eventually years down the line plan to get a '13 LS460, as Lexus considerably upgraded it and the interior is MUCH better. I'm pretty sure the last of the line 460s are pretty much bulletproof by now. Still, when that day comes I'll always miss the 4.3...even with the expensive timing belt jobs.
OP, enjoy your car. I'd die for a black on black with the 18s.

I briefly considered upgrading to a gorgeous '11 460 a few months back and found, upon a close look and thorough drive, the exact same as you. 430 feels more buttery, solid, and luxurious--the ride and drive are for sure. The 460 was no upgrade whatsoever (a step backward in a few areas actually) other than a nice modern look, inside and out. The wood, there was much less of it and it just didn't have that "when do you need to change the batteries" glow like in the 430s. Leather was harder and seats less comfy. Noticeably less roomy inside which takes away from the feeling of luxury. The 4.3 feels torquier down low, waftsble actually, (though 460 is faster) and is considerably smoother and quieter everywhere in rev range, which aslo imparts a more luxurious feeling than the 460. 6 gears is also all this car needs.

TB job was $940 plus tax, not cheap, but a price I'll gladly pay for this engine experience (I've yet to find a smoother motor and overall drivetrain). I expected a nice upgrade with the 4.6 but like I said, not nearly as buttery. Less torquey. The 460 makes more torque but it's higher in the rev range so puttering around town actually feels better in the 430.
If the older looks and design don't bother you, def check out a well cared for 430.

Don't get me wrong I liked that 460 I drove. If I were in the market I would have bought it. It's just a hard, hard sell when you have a well cared for 430. The looks are a nice upgrade (I love the slab sides of the 430 but it looks old now) and the overall design is modern. But it's just not as buttery feeling. Hard to explain. It just doesn't feel as special and overbuilt.

I definitely agree on the LS 430 being pretty old looking and with me im more of a 460L type of guy, great look, great power, great ride, but im definitely gonna test drive the LS430 just on the great feedback it has.Let me ask you this,i saw a 2004 LS430 black on black with 275,000 miles for $3500,in your opinion do you think this car can do 300,000 plus and do you think its worth buying,im sure i can get that price lowered....
To answer your question though, yes I'd but only if I could verify its been cared for. It should need its 3rd or 4th TB soon definitely make sure that's been done.

Love the OEM chrome wheel; they are so rare.
I also have a black on black 05.
Did you test drive any LS with the standard suspension?
I'm just curious about how your sport suspension rides compared to the standard one. When I bought mine I tested several of them and did not real like the ride quality of the ones with the 17 inch narrow wheels. The steering was sharper with the 18s.
How comfortable is it on bumpy roads?
