Thanks guys ,, you know the information u get here is priceless, a lot of us would be clueless without it .

All I did was look at the car, drive the car for 5 minutes, offer a price, and buy it , that's how bad I wanted it.

That doesn't mean I don't know how to buy a car or know what to look for ,,but I worked out such a good price I bought it on spot.

So I have a CL?

Thanks guys good to know

The back up camera should show itself in reverse where your map screen is. If you touch a button after going into reverse the caera will go away. The rear shade is controlled by the left switch on the bottom row by your shift lever. I drive my '05LS430 more that 50 miles round trip every day, not sure what can possibly replace it.

Mine is driven every day. Works out at 127 miles/day, for the last 7 years.

Did you get an owners manual with the car? Everything you need to know can be found there. If you didn't get one, you can go to mylexus.com, sign in as an owner with your VIN and then find that Lexus will send you a free owners manual from that site.

Thanks guys and yep I have an owners manual, im gonna take some time to look through it tonight.

Also my rear back up camera doesn't seem to work, either that or it doesn't have one, I don't seem to see any buttons for it.

If you have one it should come on as soon as you put it in reverse.

*****...you have a '01-03 so no camera. Camera was '04-06 with nav. Camera was right above the license plate under the L logo lower lid.

hey guys

im noticing on the dash that im getting 30L-100kms, this seems like an awful lot of gas.

As well ive burned through a quarter tank with hardly any driving at all, few runs to the store and once or twice to my mechanics.

Im used to a v8 been daily driving one for 4-5 years, I seem to be burning more gas then normal.

The battery was just replaced, the mechanic told me it might take a little while for the systems to start functioning properly again, as the car sat with no battery for a while, any truth to this?

Thanks, and sorry for all the questions.

Local, freeway, or mixed? If mixed, what ratio?

I get 12 miles/gallon (5.1 km/l) on local and 24 miles/gallon (10.2 km/l) freeway.
If you are getting 100km/30l then that it too low for any situation.

What mechanic said abut the battery doesn't make sense to me.
Car does study driver and apply logic for shifting gears but the default program is not bad or anything.

When was the engine oil changed last?

Try taking 50+ mile freeway ride. Engine may have moisture and that will get vaporized.
Check air filter to see if is clogged.

thanks man

car sat for like a year , then new battery put in and I drove it purely stop and go city driving so far no highway.

it burned a quarter tank like nothing I think it needs a good highway drive to see how its really averaging.

gotta check brakes too maybe they r sticking

no engine light otherwise id suspect 02 sensors

In 1996 I purchased a 1991 LS400 with 49k miles drove it for 17 years as daily driver getting about 25mpg avg. just sold it with 379k miles and bought an '04 LS430 with 60K miles. The LS430 is getting better mpg and is very nice as daily driver. Have a long drive and it is very comfortable. Put a new windsheild in the LS430 the other day and drove my '03 BMW M3 to work and was ready for a back brace by the time I got to work. Pretty sure you will enjoy the LS430 as a daily driver.
