What I have learned from experience.
1. I get too emotionally attached to some of my cars, when all they really are is a way to get my *** from place to place.
2. I can be too vindictive and want to see the other party punished severely.
3. Things like this happen to me rarely, but my insurance company has claims agents who deal with similar things many times a day. That’s their job, and most do it very well.
Take a deep breath, file a claim with your insurance company, let the assigned person work for you, and do not call back any of the lawyers who try to represent you. One of every 300 adults in the USA has a law degree, and 50 percent of them finished in the bottom half of their law school class. Those are the ones most likely to be begging you let them represent you.
