Default ....and here we go(P0031 code)

Got read today at AutoZone which gave me the results of P0031. B1,S1 related. Now, i do have a leak around the commonly known heatsheild area we all know of. My questions are shouldn't the leak trip a different code instead of the P0031 and if not, will replacing the sensor be to no avail? Should i fix the leak first to see if the code disappear?

P.S. I will get a second reading tomorrow.

Bank 1 = drivers side, pre-catalytic converter O2 sensor needs to be replaced. Usually, the leak will cause a 420 or 430 code. Might want to try to fix the leak and then clear the code but most likely you need a sensor.

Thanks! But im wondering why no 420 or 430 code was thrown also. Nevertheless i'll get the sensor anyway. Found some on amazon that are resonable.

You are welcome. I replaced both. I bought the sensors on Amazon. There is a thread on replacing the sensors if you want to do the job yourself.
